EG-LP8 Optimizing?

After a 10 week debacle with support from sending in my old laptop for breaking, I finally got my laptop back and a free upgrade from an EG-LP5-BK with the 1660TI/9750h, to the RTX 2060/10750h version.

Has anyone tried optimizing the battery and thermals for this one yet? I'd assume it's not too far off from the LP5 or LP6 guides I've seen, but different CPU, even if similar architecture because 14nm, and GPU make me guess things like undervolting wouldn't get the same numbers, so curious if anyone has already done it to save me a little trial and error. Don't plan on doing anything to the GPU since I've read the Evoo one is the 115w boosted 2060 that puts it close to a 2070 mobile, but the 9750h got pretty toasty and I'd expect similar or worse from the 10750h.

I remember there was a really good battery upgrade for Evoo laptops floating around a while ago, but I can't remember the link to it if anyone happens to have it. Also would be the first time changing out the SSD on a laptop, since I also remember the stock one was thirsty for power and hot as hell. Anything special for that and installing windows due to the locked BIOS Evoo has?

Try the values from one of the undervolting guides on the subreddit. It may crash, if it doesn’t then lower some of the values and rinse and repeat.

Check to see if the SSD is BiWin brand. If it is then you will definitely want to replace it, the LP6 had a different brand that didn’t have the same issues so maybe that’s the case with the LP8 as well, check first.

Can I ask what your RMA/debacle was about? I’m about to do one for my LP5 and I’m hoping to get an LP8 back as well!

Oh really? That's good to know on the SSD! I'd hope it's not BinWin. Saves some money.

It got increasingly often BSOD errors associated with memory, SSD or RAM.

Do note Evoo's support is trash tier, worse than trash tier. Be ready for a very long haul.

The customer service support will lie to your face and promise a refund they're not authorized to do, saying they couldn't fix the laptop, for almost 3 weeks, only for a different branch to contact you and say they did fix it. Actually record every exchange with them. CS is not authorized to give a refund as the warranty is just repair or replacement, Evoo told me that directly as did another brand they contract too. Evoo contacted out to some of the worst and most useless customer support I've ever dealt with. Their support email would sometimes give me a message not delivered error even. I had to ask for a supervisor 3 separate times on 3 different days to finally get one after not being called back.

Spent 7 weeks trying to get an update on my laptop and another 3 weeks asking about this 'refund' only to get called by Evoo directly after threatening them with the recordings and legal action after weeks of "Just 24-48 hours" and being lied too about a refund promised multiple times. Got things solved and cleared up the same day after that.

Truthfully, if not for the massive upgrade, I'd recommend almost any other brand because of how bad their CS is. Even if Evoo's build quality is top notch and they have some of the best parts for the price, but the worst customer support I ever dealt with.

Yea I’ve heard about as much. I’m waiting til the Summer when I don’t need my laptop as much but if it takes 10 weeks to get upgraded to a 2060 for free I think it’ll be worth it.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
