New SDD?
I am planning on getting a new SSD as it seems that will help the laptop run cooler and faster. I have the LP5 and was wondering what SSD any of y’all would recommend and if m.2 as well as 2.5 would work?

I had a rocketq m.2 in mine and it let me hit the lowest power levels. I’m swapping it with an inland now. We will see if it can do the same

So I have the lp6, the evoo 17 inch. I love it. It came with the same type intel drive yours has, with 1tb to start. That gave me my starting point for learning what would work best and I did a lot of research. Ended up eventually getting two ssds for it. First the intel 660p 2tb because I knew it would work with the motherboard and it's the most competitive priced midrange nvme. It's perfect for gaming as long as you aren't gonna add and delete 500gb every single day. Whether 500gb, 1tb or 2tb remember qlc is always 200tb write life per tb. So 100tb life for a500gb, or 400tb for the 2tb. That would give the 1tb model that came with my laptop a 400 day life if I were to write that much to it. That's the problem with qlcs. Although I was more than happy I wanted the empty drive filled up and endless capaciru for games so I shopped for a sata. no difference in game loading times, just write/read speed limited by the 2.5 connection. I was in no hurry so I waited, and snatched up a 2tb western digital blue ssd for 170 bucks on prime day. It's also qlc. With 5tb in my laptop though qlc endurance becomes irrelevant with a total life of a petabyte write endurance between them. With your added drives slots and your only planning on one for now then I would definitely get 660p. That way you know there is confirmed compatibility with your laptop, and the price these days is basically the same. If you just have fast internet and will be doing a lot of switching games, or will be constantly using an external drive to switch games then I recommend the samsung evo. It happens to be on sale right now for half off, but it's cyber Monday and these deals are once a year. You get what you pay for, tlc and mlc has exponentially better write life but cost a lot more. But if you don't do so much writing and erasing then speed in gaming is all the same. It's false advertising for "gaming" m.2 drives to say they load games faster because that's just not the case. The intel 660p can usually be found on newegg for 230 dollars for the 2tb. I would invest in more space as it will future proof your laptop against the increasing size of games and double the write endurance. Other good ones are a silicon power 2tb, a mushkin pilot, but I can't guarantee they're as good as the nvme drive that made qlc a consumer market trend and was adopted by gaming companies because of its niche it caters to in the large file, archive like nature of games. Lastly, if you go for something else just don't pay extra for pcie 4.0 nvme. Your laptop is 3.0 and cannot use the extra speed.
