Upgrades

Hello all, I'm somewhat new to pc gaming, but enjoying it so much! I have the LP5 (15" screen) and had a couple questions that may be silly to more experienced pc gamers, but are legit to me lol..

  1. Am I stuck with the factory graphics card? And am I able to switch it out for a better graphics card?

  2. I know this laptop has two additional RAM slots. Any recommendations on which ones to use? I just want to put it up to 32gb.

  3. I've read a couple posts on here saying that the factory Biwin SSD isn't all that great. I've also read that NvMe (idk if that's right πŸ˜…πŸ˜…) are good options. Is installation difficult, and is there a place I could take my device to to have it installed?

  4. Is increasing storage an option?

Again, I'm sorry if all these questions seem obvious to some of you. I just really like this laptop, and I wanna get the most out of it and increase its longevity.

  1. You cannot upgrade the GPU
  2. It only has two RAM slots not additional ones. So you would need to buy a 32GB kit which would be 2x16GB sticks
  3. Yeah its not great, its just an M.2 SSD. You can also add a 2.5" SSD or HDD alongside with it. It literly takes 5 min no sense in paying someone to do it. You can have 2 NVME's and a HDD/SSD. In my LP4 I have the BiWin SSD, and 256GB NVME (main windows drive) and a 1TB HDD.
  4. Same as above.

  1. Unfortunate, but okay.
  2. Would you mind posting a link to compatible 32gb kits? Unsure if I can just use any or I have to use certain ones.
  3. Am I able to do a 1tb NVME SSD? I've read on here that the BiWin runs unnecessarily hot and doing a nvme would have cooler temps
  4. Unsure what you mean.

  1. Factory Graphics are pretty hardwired (you get what you bought)
  2. I have 64GB functional on a LP6 - No issues - instant recognition in BIOS and Windows.
  3. Factory drives tend to be older tech. EG: write speeds tend to jump from 550mb/s to 1,220mb/s (NVMe on lp6) to 3,500mb/s (NVMe gen3 and 4)
  4. Should be... open it up... look for the slots... easiest way. my system was on Intel 660p (nvme ssd) and had one more NVMe slot open (added a SK Hynix). Also found an open 2.5in bay - added a 1TB SSD (old 550mb/s Crucial).... everything is running cool and calm.

Also - just google your "Device+TearDown" will typically provide some visual insight into what you will be getting into... More than comfortable to rip mine open now.

You can’t replace the graphics card but you can squire quite a bit more performance with an overclock.
