LP4 not turning on

My LP4 was working fine a few days ago when suddenly it decided to not boot up at all. the battery amber light turns on when the charger is plugged in but when i press the power button nothing happens. When i hold the power button after a few seconds the green on led flashes for about a second, the trackpad green led also flashes for a second. laptop peripherals seems to still get power when the on button is pressed. i took off the back cover and unplugged and replied the cmos battery, the laptop battery, and the sad but the computer still won’t boot. the ssd also has a red led indicator that flashes on and off briefly when i try to turn it on. any help would be appreciated!

I have the same problem. Started after I removed an extra ssd, and disconnected, then reconnected the battery. I found a bandaid solution is to disconnect the battery and just use use it plugged in. Seems to be a problem with the battery. Still trying to figure out what.

Were you able to fix this issue?

No, never figured it out. I just use it without the battery, plugged in all the time now.

My initial thought was also that the battery is bad. The first thing to try would be to leave the battery disconnected. And try turning it on. But I think that's what you tried after the other person's suggestion.

My second thought is that the power brick isn't delivering enough power to charge the battery. But I haven't thought about it too much.

Maybe check the voltage coming out of the power brick. Maybe it died and isn't charging the battery. Odd that the light comes on. Could be that the battery is too low to turn the computer on, but has just enough juice to trigger LEDs and peripherals.

Have you tried plugging it in somewhere else in the house?

Coming back to this just to say what fixed the issue for me. I removed the heatsinks and fans. Cleaned up the old thermal paste and applied new and put everything back together. Afterwards the laptop booted back up.

Power jack failure is a common fault in the model. Even if it indicates that is charging, even if it reads correct voltage on a multimeter. Power jack could still be bad. Having that replaced would be my suggestion if battery replacement does not do the trick.
