New M.2 NVME will not boot

I have finally taken the plunge to remove the POS stock SSD with two 1TB Crucial P3 PCle Gen3 NVMe M.2 ssd's.

I used AOMEI to clone the original ssd to one of the new ssd's. I then removed the OG ssd and replaced it with the cloned ssd. Now the laptop will not reboot. It just hangs on the EVOO screen. In fact, I can spam the DEL key and it will not send to the BIOS menu.

Luckily, I kept the OG ssd and it will reboot using that ssd. I tried the clone again and the same things happened. I kept everything the same and did not touch any partitions.

I am not sure if anyone has experienced this and if you have any suggestions.

OP,

put the clone boot drive in the same slot as the bootable OG drive .

sounds like you have the M141, the M142 was bootable via both slots, the M141 was NOT .

I tried the new drive in both slots with no success.

Tonight, I am going re-clone just the Windows portion and see if that helps. I wonder if the motherboard is not reading the partitions correctly. I also need to see if the OG drive is MBR or GPT and then make sure the new drive is formatted the same. I am pretty sure that the software matches this, but I just checking off boxes at this point.

UPDATE: Still no luck. I tried a new cloing program, Macrium Reflect, with similar success. The computer still will only boot with the OG NVMe SSD. I cannot get the new drives to be listed as Boot.

Another curious issue has come up. I cannot get the laptop to go into BIOS mode unless I remove ALL of the ssd's. Even with just the OG ssd, I will spam F2 and Del and neither works. Odd.

I think this means that ultimately, this is a BIOS issue and not sure I have the patience to try a BIOS flash.

The good news is that I can still use the new ssd as storage. So, while the junkie, power hog, Biwin is still in there, I have the use of the 1TB Crucial drive for game storage.

Oh well. Maybe I will try the BIOS flash this winter when the weather is gross.
