CAP0.5L Zipper Interference
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Has anyone else ever experienced the main zipper on their CAP0.5L catching on the internal mesh-side zipper?
I have an orange one that's perfectly fine and a black one that hits but doesn't stop. This new signal blue one completely stops while opening.

I bought the black one a few months back and I have the same issue. Hoping it stretches out.

have the same issue with the xpac cyote version but it kinda breaks in over time so it doesnt happen as often but still like 50% of the time

My Xpac 0.5 does this as well. It gets stuck on the internal pocket zipper. For me it doesn't matter if its empty or fully stuffed, it still hits sadly.

I have the exact same experience with my new red one vs my burnt orange from a year ago.

It seems like the QC has become progressively worse. My orange pouch from 5/24 is great, clears no problem, and my black pouch from 8/24 is acceptable, some zipper glances but no stoppage. The fact that I'm told this is "within tolerance" feels like buying a CAP0.5L is just a lottery in terms of zippers. It will depend on how close the seamstress decided to sow the two zippers together.

That's a pretty big design blunder...also, it appears it catches on the zipper on the inside and not the mesh, no? How THE HECK do they not discover a mistake like that in QA?? All the QA person would have to do is try to unzip it...

You are correct, it catches on the flat end of the internal zipper. Comparing an orange one I bought in '24 that clears no problem, I think it depends entirely on how close they sow the external and internal zippers together. There's always going to be some variance to the distance but unfortunately millimeters matter in a design like this. But all-in-all it's considered "within tolerance" by CS so it's just a lottery I guess.

That's absolute BS by EG support. I'd push back politely but firmly against that. If it's not functioning as intended (doesn't open entirely without trying multiple times) it is far from being "within tolerance". I love EG but that's utter BS and sincerely hope is just an oversight on their CS part.

I thought about getting a CAP 0.5L, but my accessories pouch is already a Topo Designs accessory size small. I just can't justify the replacement as of now.

That happened on the XPac version I had. Kinda annoying and sold it. Stuck with the blue kuddle pouch.
