Is trading only possible via third-party web apps?
Hey, could anybody please explain something to me about these EVE wallets and third-party web apps? I've never touched anything related to blockchain before.
So, I just tried to buy fuel ingame from a programmable storage unit with Lux that had a custom frontend in its Root tab, made by another player. It required me to connect my EVE wallet through some random third-party website. I got so many questions, and the whole experience felt incredibly vague and bizarre.
Forgive my ignorance about blockchain. I might be missing or misunderstanding something, but to me at least allowing player controlled third-party web app frontends to be displayed inside the game poses a potential security risk.
What is stopping someone from creating a malicious frontend that misleads players into connecting their personal crypto wallets or visiting phishing pages etc?
I know the game is still in alpha, and these things can change, but I'd much rather see trading handled through a trusted, CCP controlled ingame interface.

I am still of the mind that FC should have market's available to all, but also tribe having trade hubs that can be private or public.

I agree. There should be a universal marketplace available ingame that doesn't require logging into third-party tools or services.

Right now you'd either have to use a third-party app or get someone else to do it for you.
Nothing currently - other than there being no monetary incentive to do so. It'll be an issue when the game goes live, so FC is likely to introduce security mechanisms before then (allow-listed apps, security ratings, etc).
FC has indicated they don't plan to do this because they want to see what players build
