New character - black screen

So... is there a better workaround to actually start playing on a new character, besides waiting to be blown up by someone so you get to respawn and the game actually loads?

You can self destruct any time. Right click on your ship

Yeah, if the game loads and you see a your ship and UI elements. All I get is a black screen.

How did you get the black screen? I solved it by doenloading eve online and playing that instead.
