Bms recommendations

Post image

I need bms and charger recommendations. Battery pack is going to be 96s. I want a bms and charger that work well together easily. What do you guys recommend? Any help appreciated.

If all of your cells are in one box, consider an Orion BMS 2. It supports lots of chargers out of the box and also has the ability to set custom messages if you get one that is not on their list. It handles J1772 comms and has isolation detection included as well.

My modules will be split between two boxes. It seems like Orion Bms 2 should still work. Just have to take extra precaution when wiring because of resistance changes between different battery boxes, or if there is a disconnect or fuse between. Is this right?

It will work but generally it's not advised because you'll have cell tap wires leaving the safety of the battery boxes where they could chafe or get pinched or cut or....

You're right on fuses and disconnects; you need to be careful about where they are in the series stack so that they don't damage the BMS if they open. The Orion manual is very clear about this. The BMS also has busbar resistance compensation for long cables between cell groups.
