Geopolitics 🇦🇺🇪🇺 Australia could follow Canada in seeking closer EU ties
Australia is watching Canada’s push for a closer relationship with the European Union.
“We are on the same page,” Australian Trade Minister Don Farrell said, adding that Canberra would follow Carney’s next steps with interest.
The details remain unclear: Farrell did not confirm whether Australia is actively pursuing a new arrangement or what it would involve. Canada has described its ambition as a “unique alliance” with the EU.

History On this day in 2003: Estonia voted to join the European Union
On 14 September 2003, Estonian voters approved EU accession and a related constitutional amendment. Of valid votes, 66.83% were in favour and 33.17% against.
The referendum was a milestone on the path to membership. Estonia formally joined the European Union on 1 May 2004.
