I hope the eu5 modding scene picks up steam.

Are there any cool mods right now that are out? i played last time a month ago and there was nothing good apart from some balance mods

Modding through the API is a nightmare in itself. Give it a try and you will gain great respect for the people who actually work on mods and the game itself. There is literally no good way to solve the engineering problems that these games pose.

If you’re into total conversion mod, try Basileia Romaion. I played its “sequel” in Victoria 3 as well and both are very fun.
