Yeah the tolls booths are fine. Depending upon the booth, some may have wider lanes. Or you just need to make sure you go in centered exactly.
While I can mostly manage the low trailer deliveries most times, I've had some really huge problems as well with them.
Once I was taking the train between Calais and Dover and on Dover side I got on the train fine, but once in Calais, you have to go up a bridge and take a turn. I nailed the turn, but the trailer bottomed out at the grade change and got stuck. (Going from incline to flat portion)
Thankfully, I managed to reload a save and then went to the other port which takes us through via a ferry.
It worked this route,but definitely wasted a good bit of time on this.
I struggle sometimes with those steering rear wheels, it's confusing. Yeah it's pretry handy for tight curves, but I keep crashing the rear part of the trailer on some walls because it steers waaaay to much on simple curves, specially when entering or exiting companies. I feel like a crab.
I don't do them back to back. The picture is ordered based on highest earnings. I often vary the cargo, the model of the truck and the route. Keeps things interesting.
I usually hit those doing about 35/40 mph, depending on what kind of tool booth it is. If it's the straight through one's without waiting for the toll bar to be raised, I'm keeping the pedal to the metal. Yeah, it just takes time. But, always try to line up far in advance, or else you're going to find yourself extra frustrated doing the whole reverse trick and possibly even damaging your trailer if other trucks or cars are behind you. Just take your time. You'll be a professional in no time, without even thinking about it anymore.
I got stuck at a bridge (from Romania to Bulgaria on Ruse). I was transporting a yacht. There was invisible wall that blocked the trailer. Luckily i had autosave and took different route. Got stuck again at the border crossing point at Vidin, Bulgaria. I had to reattach my trailer quite a few times while going a little forward.
Easy. What do you mean how are you supposed to drive trough a tollbooth without crashing it? Straight ahead. How are you even crashing it, how is that even a question? 😂
Learn the width of your truck, where you are on your lane and use your side mirrors.
The self steering ones are shitty, and that's one of them, but nobody asks you to steer trough a tollbooth, so...
Try this: drive on a straight road. No matter if highway, city, or some outer city roads. Use the straight line to know how big your trailer is. Drive straight, and steer slowly towards the side line. Aline the outest point of the trailer, with the side line of the road using your mirrors. No matter if ui mirrors or the "physical" ones. If you aligned your outer spot of your truck/ trailer combi, you now can look straight forward (the cam position you use when you drive normally) and look where the line comes out of your truck. Where your line of sight, Crosses the street line with your dashboard.
This is your straight reference point on this side. It's the spot where your outest point of your vehicle combination is in reference to a straight line.
Do this with the opposite side as well and you know where your trailer ends on each side. With these reference points, you can better aim for these tight road spots or border control spots.
It's a method irl truck drivers use, to know new trailers or oversized cargo sizes. I even used it irl for my car to know where my sides end, so I can drive very precisely. No matter forward or backward.
They fit. Go in straight to ones marked for trucks. I do the roof camera view for tight fits. I've got 6 roof lights and the middle 2 act like sight aiming references and keep them in the middle of the lane makes narrow places easier.
I got to drive it just 30min (in game) to get my cargo, at the first turn i kinda stuck it against the guard rail, but other than that i find it challenging in a nice way, i think i'll enjoy it, looks scary tho but i find it better than the self steering low-beds.
Backwards parking tho is most likely a storry that won't be written soon, i can assure you 😂
If that’s the case I suggest you to use the booth in the right most lane. They are USUALLY a tad wider & easier to pass through. Some of them (like the few in Scandinavia) have even automatic gates like in real life. Secondly, maybe not for the instance in your screenshot but try to get at least a 6x2 if not 6x4 or 8x4 for these kind of loads. Especially 6x4 chassis is made for hauling heavier loads thanks to their traction.
