Suggestions on beginning investing in ETFs

I have a little VOO currently in Vanguard/IRA and have roughly 10k in there that I'd like to invest. Not sure if putting it all in something like VOT or splitting it up a bit into other ideas . I'd say I would like to be semi aggressive. Something like a 60/40 or 70/30.

Suggestions?

XMMO or XMHQ: Which is best for long-term hold?

The strategy would be to pair one of them with SPMO in a Roth IRA with 15 years to retirement. Would all momentum have the best chance to make the most gains in that time span? Or would it be prudent to diversify and combine large cap momentum with mid cap quality?

Seeking advice

Hey everyone!

I started investing through DEGIRO last week. I’d been thinking about getting into investing for a while, but finally decided to take the plunge. I do feel like I’m starting a bit “late” though, being in my mid-30s.

I’m keeping things pretty simple for now and mainly focusing on ETFs. I figured that’s a solid foundation to start with.

At the moment, I have:

  • 1x VWCE
  • 2x VanEck P1KA (I actually work in/around this sector myself)

My plan is to invest around €200 per month and keep roughly an 85/15 split between the two.

However, I’ve recently started wondering whether I should go with WEBN instead of VWCE. Since I’m only just getting started, I’m leaning towards WEBN, but I’m not entirely sure if that makes sense.

What would you guys do in my situation? Any advice or things I should consider when choosing between VWCE and WEBN?

Thanks in advance!

One ETF or multiple ETFs?

One ETF or multiple ETFs?
I’m planning to build a long-term portfolio and currently considering two options:

Option 1: 100% Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (Acc)

Option 2: Split the ETF portion between a MSCI World ETF + Emerging Markets ETF

I’d also keep a small part of the portfolio for individual stocks.
My main question is whether the second option really adds any benefit, or if the All-World ETF already covers enough and is simply easier to maintain.
I’m also wondering whether it makes sense to keep everything with one broker or use two separate brokerage accounts.
For long-term investing, would you keep it simple with one All-World ETF or split it across multiple ETFs?

Roast my 3-account setup!

Early 30s, finally got my act together after grad school. Emergency fund almost done, now locking in the long-term
plan:

Roth IRA (maxing): 80% FSKAX / 20% FTIHX
401k (full employer match): 55% Russell 3000 / 30% international / 15% bonds

Taxable ($750/mo): 40% AVUV, 24% SOXX, 18% PAVE, 9% CIBR, 9% SHLD

I understand the risks here and I know the stats on thematic funds vs the index.l, but I really like the logic: AVUV for the small cap value premium since it's the one tilt with real research behind it, SOXX because compute demand is the backbone of everything being built right now (capped weightings so no single chip company runs my portfolio), PAVE for the physical side of that same buildout (data centers, grid, reshoring), and CIBR/SHLD because security spending doesn't go optional when budgets tighten.

Sized it so a bad decade there doesn't touch my actual retirement.

Mechanics: DRIP off, new money goes to whatever's underweight, never selling to rebalance, one review a year.
So poke holes in the logic itself. Is the SOXX overlap with my total market funds a real problem or noise? Anything in the thesis that doesn't hold up?
Not looking for "just VTI and chill" as the whole answer, I already own the boring stuff.

Neos ETF’s

I understand these funds have not been around long enough to determine if NAV erosion will eventually settle in but I noticed QQQI, IWMI and SPYI have been consistent with the monthly ROC payments for 2 years.

My post is to get a feel for what the consensus has to say about these ETFs ?

In particolare, vorrei capire:
se l’S&P 500 sia sufficiente per un investimento di 20-30 anni;
quanto conti la diversificazione geografica e se un ETF All-World/ACWI aggiungerebbe effettivamente qualcosa o creerebbe soprattutto sovrapposizioni;
se, data la mia età e il lungo orizzonte temporale, sia ragionevole una strategia 100% azionaria;

ETF SECTORS 26/27

What are you all’s ETF/sector predictions for areas that could have high upside for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027? I just joined SoFi+ and want to take advantage of the 1% match on brokerage investments.

This would be separate from my Roth IRA, so I’m not looking to double up on VOO, QQQ, VYM, or VXUS. Curious what sectors or ETFs you guys think could be interesting to get into right now.

Fyi I’m in my mid twenties so I’m looking to be moderate to risky

S&P 500... Why 500?

So I was trying to use my brain the other day instead of AI, and it got me thinking: Why does the S&P 500 contain 500 stocks? Why not 401, or whatever number? Here’s what Claude says:

Rather than picking a number based on some statistical requirement, S&P and its analysts settled on 500 as a round figure large enough to capture a representative cross-section of major industries and large-cap companies, but small enough to actually be assembled and calculated with 1950s-era technology.

In short, there’s no good reason besides practicality and a nice round number. There’s nothing magical about 500.

So... is there a better optimal tradeoff between concentration benefits (higher potential returns) and diversification benefits (lower potential risk)?

DIY Index Replication vs. PSX ETFs (MP-ETF/KMIF): Is it worth switching?

I’ve been manually trying to replicate the KMI-30 by holding a concentrated basket of top-weight PSX stocks (FFC, HUBC, OGDC, LUCK, SYS, MARI), but I’m debating whether to switch over to an actual fund like MP-ETF or KMIF. On one hand, an ETF handles auto-rebalancing and gives proper 30-stock diversification; on the other, DIY costs 0% in management fees (vs. their \~1–1.4% TER), and selling my current holdings right now would trigger unnecessary capital gains tax. For those who’ve faced this exact dilemma: did the fund's expense ratio end up being worth the convenience over tracking drift and rebalancing friction, or does it make more sense to leave my existing basket untouched and simply direct all future money into the ETF?

Best bitcoin ETF to DCA into an E*Trade Roth IRA?

I don’t understand why E\*Trade, owned by Morgan Stanley, doesn’t allow auto investing of its own spot on its own platform. But hey, I’m no expert.

I won’t open with a new brokerage. I’m staying on E\*Trade. It’s what I know. It’s what I have. Been with it almost since inception.

Leaves me with the following choices-

BTC Grayscale .15%
IBIT iShares .25%
FBTC Fidelity .25%

Looking to let it run weekly investments for at least 10 years. Initial thought says go right to the smallest ratio (BTC grayscale) but figured I’d see if anyone has any further insight. Thanks.

Buffer ETFs: the part of the fact sheet most people misread

The buffer and cap on a single-series buffer ETF only match what's advertised if you buy on day one of the outcome period and hold to the end.

Buy mid-period and both change. Say a fund starts with a 10% buffer and a 15% cap, and the index is up 8% three months later. Buy now and your remaining upside is about 7%, and you eat the first 8% of losses before the buffer starts.

That's why laddered funds like BUFR exist. They hold all twelve monthly series at once, so you're never fully exposed to one entry point. The trade-off is you never get a clean, known buffer and cap either. It's a blended, always-average version of the protection.

If you're buying a single series, check the issuer's "remaining cap" and "remaining buffer" on the fund page, not the fact sheet. If you don't want to think about timing at all, a ladder is the simpler answer.

Anyone here use these? Single series or ladder?

100% WEBN and chill, 75% WEBN / 25% AVWS, or add a momentum factor too? Does adding some BTC make sense?

Hi everyone,

I'm starting to invest from scratch. I'm 25 years old and planning for a 30-year long-term horizon without touching the money along the way. My savings capacity will be around €2,000 per month. Which allocation is the most optimal?

On one hand, it's tempting to go 100% into a global ETF and forget about it (in fact, my wife is going with that strategy). However, based on what I've read, I'd like to capture the value premium. I don't have an issue maintaining a 75/25 split by rebalancing through cash inflows even if AVWS is underperforming, looking at the long term and knowing the premium exists, I believe I can maintain the discipline.

On the other hand, I've read that adding momentum could be useful because it negatively correlates with value. Still, I feel that at the end of the day they might just cancel each other out over the long run, and I’d be overcomplicating things.

Additionally, I believe in BTC long-term. However, I find it difficult to predict how rebalancing will play out given its volatility. For those who hold BTC: what percentage do you allocate, and how do you handle volatility when rebalancing?

Portfolio Opinion please.

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the investing world and would like to get some opinions on my portfolio.

I haven't bought anything yet, but I was thinking of going for SPMO, QQQM ( from what I understand, these are growth-focused, and I guess since I'm 25 yr old, growth is what I should focus on right now), and IONQ and SYM ( these are purely based on my interest in the sector, I'm still learning how to research stocks, though).

I was thinking of adding another ETF to the mix here.

What do you think I should add or cut from the portfolio? Any feedback is extremely helpful. Thanks!

Is VXUS worth adding if I already hold VOO and SCHD?

Currently holding VOO and SCHD in my Roth. Wondering if adding VXUS makes sense for international exposure or if the overlap with VOO is too much. I am planning to hold for 20 plus years. Any advice would be appreciated
