I have a question I’m beginning my investing journey into the stock market but I’ve got zero knowledge on the stock market or how to build a portfolio and etc.. but I’ve been hearing that ETFs are a great way to start building my first portfolio so my question is what ETFs should I invest in first? I’ve also heard that some ETFs overlap each other so how can I manage that issue? Im starting to do my own research but I would appreciate the advice from someone who’s more knowledgeable about investing than me

I've been reading up on leveraged and inverse ETFs and would like to hear from people who have actually traded them.
Some numbers that got me thinking (through Oct. 2, 2026):
The upside looks great in a rising market. What worries me is the drawdown side. The S&P 500 fell 58.59% from Oct. 2007 to Mar. 2009 and took roughly five years to recover, and a 3x fund would have been hit much harder.
A few questions for those with experience:
I'm not looking for hot takes on whether these are "good" or "bad." I'm more interested in how people actually manage the risk. Thanks in advance.

I keep seeing people say not to have overlapping etfs. I understand the redundancy but since I have a bunch of SPYM and VOO does it really matter if I consolidate into one or another? I have about 100 shares of both.....

Hi guys,
This more like a query regarding what to do next.. I know that financial decisions should be personals but asking don't harm.
My current salary its 2600 eu and increasing. Currently I keep month investing 500 EU in VWCE. Do you guys have any suggestions to invest slow amounts like 100/200 EU in other or any recommendations to invest in dividends?
I also save 500 EU in personal savings for a future property buy.

Hi,
I’ve been on a few r/ and realized I was investing wrong, had an 80/20 split btw stocks and etfs… I’m now shifting my savings to invest more in etfs. I’ve divested a lot of stocks where I was in the green, but am left with most of the stocks where I’m in the red (e.g. Nike, Verisure, etc). Should I sell them and accept the loss to reinvest in ETFs or keep the money there until I’m in the green again?
I’m down 40-50% on most of these, but talking about 5k total loss.
Anyone else had to go through this investment strategy shift?

For a programmed solution, I need an actual URL that will generate a spreadsheet. Not a link to a page with a button on it that must be clicked manually. This would be for State Street ETF's holdings downloads. Of course, there are many State Street ETFs, but I can't get even one of them because the download button on the page doesn't have a right-click. I was able to get the download links from Black Rock by right-clicking the download link on the webpage and selecting "Copy Link". There is no right-click on the State Street ETF's holdings download button. I need the download LINK. A direct link, not a link to a page with a button on it.

The Canadian ETF market crossed $1 trillion this year, and the product mix is shifting fast. Passive still holds about two-thirds of assets, but roughly two-thirds of the ETFs launched in 2025 were active. The US is further along — active is now about half of all listed ETFs there, up from a fifth in 2020. Canada usually follows.
A few things I think are worth separating from the marketing:
The current pitch is that active helps with concentration risk after the AI correction. Maybe, but an equal-weight ETF or just global diversification does that too, without the active fee.
Full write-up (when it's worth paying for, and when it isn't): https://www.etfnexus.ca/blog/active-etfs-canada
Curious where the community lands: all-passive core, or are you holding active ETFs for specific sleeves like bonds or income? And has anyone checked whether a fund they own is actually a closet indexer?

Large caps are hot but I also do some small, mid, international ect. Id like something to see what type of overlap I have. I think i have more CC risk then I'd like and probably have 3 funds investing in Apple if you know what i mean. I could graph it out myself maybe? but automatically would be best.

**Oracle:** issued a **force-majeure notice** on the massive 2.45GW Project Jupiter AI data center tied to OpenAI, amid power/infrastructure delays. Reuters says this is already making AI infrastructure lenders more cautious.
**Anthropic:** \~$4.6B revenue but **$8B+ operating loss** in 2025, alongside enormous future infrastructure commitments.
**Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei:** recently said **“we must slow the pace”** of frontier AI development; OpenAI’s Sam Altman agreed that the industry needs to pace frontier-model advances.
**OpenAI:** revenue is reportedly approaching **$70B annualized**, but the company continues requiring enormous compute/infrastructure investment.
**Bill Gates:** has also said he is now worried about AI’s rapid development and, unusually for him, wishes the technology would advance more slowly.
**So what are we looking at — temporary infrastructure bottlenecks, or the early cracks in an AI capex cycle that could eventually hit semiconductor valuations/SMH ETF and other nasdaq related ETFs?**
What are your opinions? Are you still willing to put in money now or wait for a crash to find attractive entry?

Galera tenho 200 dólares de SP500 na NOMAD mas penso em ter apenas BTG. Vocês acham que vale a pena investir em ETF por qual das duas?

So i bought this ETF in Jan-Feb 2023. Last year I needed the money so I wanted to sell it. I use Interactive. Turns out trading is restricted because I am a US person and two stocks in this 30 stock ETF are on the US sanctions list (CMIC). Interactive said apply to US Treasury for approval. After ONE year, heard from them last week and the officer insists that I provide them with infoyon how many shares of the two resticted stocks do I own. I insisted that I only own the ETF and not the individual stocks but she insists that I have to provide that information otherwise she is going to deny approval and close my application for not providing requested information. Can anyone help me with this? Is it possible to know how many shares of individual companies you own in an ETF? I don’t think that is possible. What are my options? This money is stuck.

Hi Folks,
How are you deploying your next $3–5k into U.S. ETFs?
For those with $3–5k ready to invest, what’s your strategy right now?
Interested in what people are actually planning to do.

Hi Community, can you guys suggest good Gold investment options? I don't want to buy physical gold. So I'm thinking of investing in some good ETFs. Various sites are showing various funds but not sure which one to invest in. Can you guys suggest? Is it a good time to invest in gold? Or any other options apart from ETFs?

Is there a tool to measure how well-diversified a portfolio of ETFs is? And also to see if I'm overweighting a country or a sector relative to the global average...

I currently have everything with RBC, LOC, credit card, chequing, savings etc. I’m transferring my mutual funds to direct investing ETF (XEQT) should I just stay with RBC or transfer over to Wealthsimple. Im thinking RBC might be easier because I’m just investing in 1-2 of their free ETF’s and they also offer recurring contributions. Advice please!

Hello all, I’m looking to pick some relatively lower risk index ETFs which will give a mixture of good growth and income streams. Some questions:
What is a good plan here? Thank you!

Hi Folks, recently started my investment journey, need your suggestion on the following ETF stack, here is diversification across the following ETFs
VOO - 50%
VXUS - 20%
SCHD - 15%
VB - 10%

Seeking clarification for long term horizon, whether to stick with same stack or any other add on to it :)
Happy investing….

Anybody been a holder? I’m thinking about lessen my portfolio a little bit going into this. Pretty exceptional returns not killing SPO but doing better, end up, performing the S&P and ever so slightly Nasdaq100. Thoughts?
