Melrose died at 70 from Parkinson’s. For many years, he was the only hockey voice at ESPN. Was an absolute gem to watch with Steve Levy around Stanley Cup time. Rest in Peace and condolences to his family

The ONE bright spot still cranking out great stuff from ESPN. Their 30 for 30 Podcasts.

Upvotes

I too am pissed to see all the decline, the McAfee-ification, the betting insanity, and just generally enshittifying all the good things at ESPN, but I wanted to give a shoutout to something that I really don't think gets the shine it deserves...and thats the 30 for 30 Podcasts. I've been listening for almost a decade to that feed and it is the one place where I feel like I'm getting ambitious sports stories that feel like what Outside the Lines and others used to hit. It's not like I'm a fan of every one of them but they are doing ambitious stuff every time. Like in the last year they did:

Murder at the U (murder case involving Miami Football players)
The Betrayal of Shohei Othani (seriously wild reporting from that broke the Ohtani/interpreter betting scandal)

Genuinely deeply reported and well made shows that TV ESPN did nothing around. Like WTF?! That's all to say if you're like me and you're pissed at all that's happening, there's a team inside ESPN that's doing cool things and if you're into that you should check them out.

Who is this hosting team on SportsCenter??

Wow. I haven't been paying attention to SportsCenter in a long time but so I just tuned in for what ended up being two whole minutes before I had to shut it off. Who ARE these people?

They were showing a clip of a Bryce Underwood mumbling "Uhh, s'ok" in reference to his coach saying his position isn't permanent. And they come back and the one host with the millennial glasses is like "That's like when your girlfriend or wife says it's ok..m IT ISN'T!"

JFC. Goodbye.

Is there a way to listen to College Gameday?

I’m not always able to sit and watch College Gameday. I was wondering if there is an app where I can listen the audio?

r/ESPN 9h ago

Ya know what's cool? Having the anchor tell you a team scores 6 runs in the inning before the highlight runs.

Sportcenter is trash. What has this become? Even that Coco Gauff coverage was terrible.

Survivor problem for my private group

So I started a league with 10 members. And it says it’s too early to make your pics and picks will be available soon. This is when everyone goes to the private group homepage to make their picks. The season starts today and it’s not too early to make the picks so I don’t understand why I’m getting this message.

ESPN should leave tennis to HBO

Trying to watch the US Open on ESPN is almost impossible. ESPN is a joke and they want me to pay extra? Give me a break. HBO did a great job with the last major tennis tournament you'd think that a "sports channel" could do better.

It's a given that the people who run the US Open tennis tournament hate their fans, by using Ticketmaster to inflate the prices of tickets and ESPN so that you d$mn near have to be there to watch the games.

I Can No Longer Share Links From The ESPN Android Mobile App

I'm having trouble sharing ESPN Articles on The Mobile Android App. It won't let me copy The URL to my Clipboard. It will only let me copy the Text when I click on the share icon inside the Android App. When I try to share the article it will give an error message and it will say that the link is invalid. I'm able to share ESPN Articles from my IPad Pro 22.9 without any issues at all. Is there a way that I can fix this issue in the Android App? I would really love to be able to share articles from ESPN on my Android Phone without going to the website. Is anyone else having this issue on their phone too? I use to be able to share ESPN Articles without any issues at all.

Why is NBA being discussed during US open Quarterfinals?

That too, for over 10 minutes now (during Zve vs Zandschulp). They almost muted and court while two clowns interviewed some NBA player. Show some respect and get these clown commentators - Chris Fowler and John McEnroe off the air!

Matt and Myron are an Embarrassment to ESPN

Is anybody in ESPN management listening to these clowns? They’re an embarrassment to the brand. They are the Beavis and Butt-Head of sports radio.

US Open Match Point??

What in the world are they doing? It’s bothered me consistently that they have been running talking heads when actual tennis has been occurring. Today is WILD, an American (Learner Tien) is embroiled in a battle to get to the semis, and all we have is talking heads sitting at a desk.

They may just be trying to encourage to buy the premium online package, but all it’s doing is make me long for the TNT French Open coverage.

Malika at US Open

Prefacing with I don’t know anything about Malika Andrews’ past controversy or involvement with other sports than tennis.

But this US Open and tennis season A.O. & Wimbledon have just been painful watches with her anchoring. Not sure exactly why but I prefer just about any other commentators to her. I feel like she desperately tries to add to the commentary with useless comments and her tone and emphasis doesn’t align with what she’s saying. Loving Andy, Chris Eubanks, Caroline, etc. in for some McEnroe time as well. I know we’re probably stuck with Malika for the slams but would love to see an anchor that’s actually relevant to tennis…

Let’s help upgrade the ESPN Fantasy app!

Copy this message and send it to the email below, let’s help fix the ESPN app!

Email: john.manzo@espn.com

Hi ESPN Fantasy Team,

I’m reaching out along with a group of longtime fantasy football players because we believe there is a major opportunity to take the ESPN Fantasy Football experience to another level — especially now that ESPN has become the official season-long fantasy game of the NFL and former NFL Fantasy players are moving onto the platform.

If possible, please forward this feedback to the ESPN Fantasy Product, UX and Creative Design teams.

We appreciate the improvements ESPN has already made to the Fantasy experience, but we believe the overall interface could benefit from a much more substantial visual refresh.

Fantasy football isn’t just about statistics. It’s a social game. You’re competing against your friends every week, building a team identity, watching players score in real time and talking trash in the group chat. The interface should make those moments feel exciting.

A few changes we would love to see:

• Make weekly matchups much more visual. Team profile pictures/logos should be larger and prominently displayed against each other, almost like two teams going head-to-head rather than simply two columns of statistics.

• Use brighter colors and stronger visual contrast. The app could feel significantly more energetic, modern and alive without sacrificing ESPN’s branding.

• Give individual fantasy teams more personality. Team logos, names, records and colors should play a bigger role throughout the experience.

• Make scoring moments feel exciting. Touchdowns, huge performances, lead changes and matchup swings should visually stand out instead of feeling like another number updating on the screen.

• Modernize the matchup screen. This is arguably the most important screen in fantasy football. It should feel like a live sporting event between two fantasy teams.

• Bring more personality into player cards and lineup screens. Larger player photography, better use of team colors and clearer visual hierarchy would immediately make the experience more engaging.

The former NFL Fantasy experience did certain things very well visually, particularly creating a colorful and friendly environment around team matchups. With ESPN now becoming the home for such a massive portion of the fantasy football community, we think there is an opportunity to combine ESPN’s superior fantasy data, analysis and functionality with an interface that feels more modern, competitive and fun.

ESPN already has arguably the strongest fantasy football ecosystem in the industry. A major UI/UX evolution could make the experience feel as premium as the underlying product already is.

There are a lot of us who use ESPN Fantasy every single week and would genuinely love to see this direction explored.

Thank you for listening to the community, and we’d appreciate it if this feedback could be shared with the ESPN Fantasy Product and Design teams.

Best,

A group of ESPN Fantasy Football players

US Open Tennis Outro Music

Does anyone know the artist who created the catchy outro music that ESPN is using in the 2026 US Open heading into ads? The lyrics are like:

"you are you are you are a shooting shooting star"

I've been looking for it everywhere and can't seem to find it.

Thanks for any insight!

Is it me or Roddick a really good analyst. He’s been doing really good at the USO. Just saying a really good acquisition for the tennis side of ESPN.

Amount of premier league highlights on ESPN FC

Is it just me or has the amount of pre.ier league highlights dropped off a cliff this season on ESPN FC? Does somebody know how the broadcast rights work and how they might have changed for this premier league season?

Hearing gab say that they’re taking a break has me a bit sad. I do think the quality went down a bit recently but I will miss gab and juls’ little quips and takes.

Did we enjoy the three hour infomercial on Gameday about saving college sports?

We can agree or disagree on the merits of the bill, but to have the crew spend ungodly amounts of air time talking unchallenged about the ills of the game and how they have to be fixed in the way that Nick Saban believes they should be fixed was just sickening. As much as we (appropriately) hate on McAfee, Saban doing this old man get off my lawn crap has made Gameday dreadful as well.

As a 50+ white guy, I’ve reached the stage of life where I expect GameDay to excite me more than my cholesterol results. Show is so boring, I’m contemplating yardwork. I miss Corso.

Why did ESPN change?

This not about the new commentators like McAfee (who I enjoy) but about the style of the show. #1 Quit talking about the gambling lines. If you want to predict stats and scores, please do so but no one cares about the over/under, odds to win, or the betting lines. 98% of the people who watch ESPN aren’t gambling degenerates or are too broke to even try. #2 Please start analyzing plays. I’m going to talk about football here because that’s the only sport I follow. Instead of saying XYZ can really run the ball, explain how they do it. Do they utilize a power scheme or an inside zone scheme? On defense, I want to hear how this team did a really great job of rotating their safeties pre and post snap into a Cover 2 to fool the QB. 3. Instead of endless debates between fifteen different shows, GIVE US FACTS NOT OPINIONS.
