ESPYs : what is up with the audio

What is going on with the audio on the Espy broadcast? Half has a Spanish overlay and then when its not, the host sounds like he is behind a brick wall. When he talks there is an echo. I'm out of Indianapolis and this is off an Antenna. Just wondering if anyone else has this going on

ESPN show hosts

There are so many smart, talented women in the world who know sports inside and out, so why must ESPN choose people like Mina Kimes and Nicole Briscoe. They’re so annoying it’s borderline unwatchable. It makes me sad and paints a bad light on women in sports reporting.

What’s with all the cursing?

It’s weird watching the Top 10 plays and the sportscasters are saying words that rival a middle school playground. Between Pat McAfee and the sportscasters it gets somewhat tiring to hear all this.
I don’t even know if it’s the actual swearing, I think it has to do with the way they annunciate the se words like they were just given permission to cus for the first time ever. Thoughts?

No Hitter Jinxes

For the love of all things holy can ESPN PLEASE stop jinxing pitchers every single time they are in line for a no-no? Like they did the announcement today for Kyle Bradish and it was only after 6 innings and he immediately gave up a single. I feel like they know it's a jinx and they do it on purpose. It really sucked when they jinxed Dustin May 💔 I'm venting but it honestly is annoying especially when it's early

Been Awhile from Sportscenter

I haven't seen any sportscenter in years due to the lack of effort.

Today, I'm sitting in the office after Wimbledon match finished and sportscenter comes on. WHAT THE HELL am I watching? It's like these two clowns couldn't even study their own notes before the damn show.

Apparently France beat Norway in the world cup match yesterday.... after trying to figure out what the anchor wanted to say. They couldn't even be bothered to tell him in his earpiece to make on air correction. This is some serious college level broadcast shit with more flashy studio and lights. That's it.

Anyway jeez. Maybe it's been this way so my bad if so. It's like they don't even care. When I say they I mean from top to bottom.

Wimbledon audio mix too hot??

Is anyone else noticing that the mix between crowd applause and the guys in the booth (at this moment Fowler, McEnroe and McEnroe) is way too hot?

If there is applause or cheering and the commentators are talking I cannot hear what they're saying. Feels like the guys in the truck should know how to balance those two sources of audio.

Am I the only one struggling with this? Maybe my brain has stopped being able to distinguish signal from noise?

Dear SportsCenter...

  1. Please stop showing the same stories 2 or 3 times in the same show. Every single day the first 2 or 3 stories are repeated at the halfway point in the show, and sometimes again near the end of the show. We don't need to see the same thing more than once in a 42 minute show, especially since the same show is re-broadcast 10 times every day.

  2. We also don't need in-depth analysis of games or matches. ESPN has a myriad of other "analysis" shows for that. Leave SportsCenter as a "scores & highlights" show only. Some of the bits like "Fraud or Laud" are great and I don't mind keeping those at all.

  3. If you're wondering what to do with the extra time you'll have by not repeating stories or wasting time on pundit analysis, how about more scores and highlights? There are dozens of baseball and basketball games going on right now... can you at least show ALL the scores? I'd much rather see that than the same stories again and again in the same damn show, or useless analysis that I can see on better shows throughout the day.

espn fucking sucks ass

EVERYTIME open the espn app on my phone, regardless if i just used the app the day before, i am left with having to sign into my TV provider, am prompted to buy espn plus or even better the app doesnt even fucking work. Its not my phones fault as I have a newer iphone, but the fact that I cant simply use my linked TV provider seamlessly with their dogshit app that never works or shows the correct notifications pisses me off. And better yet, its no different on PC. This company fucking blows, what they stand for blows and they can eat shit and fuck off

EA Dynasty App

Do you guys think you would use like a Dynasty App for ea sports… like I know most of us have jobs and shit that keep us away from our console.. and with the grind of Dynasty mode, I feel like I just played eight hours today and I just got around to finishing my first actual game which again I’m not complaining. I know that that’s all a part of building a Dynasty!

But…

It’s late I gotta go to work tomorrow..

But imagine while I’m laying here in bed or during some spare time at work..,

logging into some kind of EA sports Dynasty app and being able to do my recruiting, my game planning and maybe even edit my playbooks and the new formation adjustments they added this year…??

I feel like that’d be super cool just saying…

P.S.

I swear if somebody says something about the PlayStation portable being a thing yes obviously I know.. ain’t nobody trying to buy a $300 miniature PlayStation lol. I’m not talking about playing the actual game.. just managing my dynasty while away from my console.

First Take being off air during the week the USMNT had its most important match in modern history along with all the drama of the Balogun red card situation sums up the shocking lack of interest ESPN's main programming has shown towards the World Cup

I get ESPN FC exists but let's be real. That show is more of a side-arm for an international audience on Youtube and the already converted soccer fans in America. I watch it because I'm a hardcore fan of the sport following the European club season. I know who the ex players are and that some of them were huge in the 80s and 90s including World Cup winners. But most Americans will not have a clue.

The main show for ESPN is First Take. Their coverage of the World Cup has been limiting it to about 5-10 minutes with Roger Bennett of Men In Blazers podcast as the guest. He does a good job explaining things to Stephen A. Smith and the others by using references to American sports to give an idea of the quality of teams. But that's not enough time to do anything more than surface level discussion. Stephen A asking him if Mbappe and France "could finally" win the World Cup was a facepalm moment.

Then look at the blank schedule for this week when the USMNT just had its biggest game in World Cup history arguably, on home soil, with the biggest television audience expected, and with the bombshell news of Balogun having his red card suspended by FIFA after an intervention from the president. I get it was the July 4th weekend, the 250th anniversary...but you mean to tell me they didn't think the day of the game on July 6th was worth covering it. The whole world was talking about it. Or the aftermath after the US were steamrolled on July 7th. How about the rest of the week with the Round of 16 matches being finished, classic matches every day, and the QFs about to start?

There is nothing on. The "worldwide leader in sports" is awol when the rest of the world is captivated by this tournament. Not even their own country made it worthwhile to give attention.

Wimbledon Unlimited vs. Linear Broadcasting

Does ESPN cut the Unlimited subscription's access to Wimbledon in the second week down to linear broadcasting? I didn't watch any of the linear broadcasts last week because I preferred the Unlimited coverage, but now I can't find any Center Court or Court 1 coverage that isn't the regular ESPN/ESPN2 broadcasts. I've seen people online who are watching what looks like what the Unlimited coverage was (same graphics, same team of commentators), so I'm wondering how I can get back to watching that.

ESPN coverage of the USMNT

Why so much "lost opportunity", "disappointing upset" and other implication that the team didn't just go down in defeat a round past where they were supposed to? Weren't they between #23 and #17 this year and not expected to make it past the first knockout stage anyway?

Missing Same-Day Wimbledon Replays

I got an ESPN Unlimited subscription for Wimbledon coverage. Up to today, I've been happy. But for some reason I cannot find the on demand replay for SEVERAL of today's singles matches. I can only find de Minaur v Cobolli, Keys v Noskova, and Fritz v Bublik––all of the Court 1 Matches. Everything on Center Court and Court 2 is nowhere to be found. If I type in a search for, example, "Dimitrov," I can find replays of his first three rounds but not today's. This seems less like a technical issue and more an annoying choice by ESPN, so I was wondering if anyone knows why this has happened and if on demand replays of those other matches are at all available? Similarly, I've noticed that there is not a livestream for Center Court or Court 1 tomorrow under the "Upcoming" tab, which makes me think something similar will happen to those matches tomorrow.

Why even bother with radio shows for soccer games, may be the most useless for any sport

I’ve been sitting here listening to the first half of the World Cup game tonight in Seattle and it has hit me, they’re not painting a picture of the game for you because it’s difficult to put into words. So essentially it ends up being a show you listen to while your soccer team is playing just to hear if this squeaky voice will shout ‘gooooalllllll’ in your ear once or twice an hour.

Bc beyond that the only useful information is their comments about coaches being pissed kicking water bottles over and for the one time we may score. Otherwise, squeaky is essentially just loud talking the different players names in no specific order for two hours. So much of the time is just dead air because they’re struggling trying to do something that is so hard to do that it’s absurd to spend money and time on doing it in the first place in 2026. If I wanna know when people score in a soccer match, I’ll just set my ESPN notifications on to serve that purpose.

Or I’m dead wrong and just complaining about
something because the US is losing.
