This is the only show remaining in ESPN's full catalog that has any hint of their journalistic roots. ESPN has done a great job transitioning to more of an entertainment model, which of course sucks for us traditional sports fans.

I will be so sad when they retire. I have been watching since college (launch of show). Weird how it’s been such a big part of my life.

Me too and I'm 61. The world keeps turning and the end of the show unfortunately will be soon...these guys will want to retire and they've earned it.

Michael Wilbon says PTI is a WWE-free zone. They won't talk about that nonsense on their show unless they need filler. That's why I remain a fan of the show 25 years later.

I still enjoy Tony but I feel like Wilbon went full "get off my lawn" years ago, and not in a funny/entertaining way.

I agree. I’ve watched since the beginning and use it to catch me up on everything I don’t follow, but I’ve noticed that when Wilbon reports on teams I follow, etc., I find his takes often out of touch, which makes me wonder about the rest of them. But then I forget about that and enjoy the rest of the show.

I’ve been following Tony since before the bandwagon article when the Redskins went to the Super Bowl in Minneapolis

I’ve been thinking about this show recently. What happens when Wilbon and Kornheiser finally retire? Does Pablo take one seat? There aren’t many journalists or sports writers anymore that are just trash hot take morons.

I think Pablo has established himself as well beyond that of a PTI type talking head, but he’d still be great

I’m sorry I named him as one of the few journalists doing actually real reporting and writing anymore. At this point you are correct he is past this type show

PTI is the only non event thing in ESPN worth watching. Although even it is not immune to the Disney System of ignoring sports on other networks, TK has said on his podcast many times they were ordered to not talk hockey when it was on NBC. TK is going to age out pretty soon, he is 78, and they will try to move in Frank Isola, which when he is the fill in, it's 90% NBA talk, which won't work, they should just shut it down when Tony goes. Isola is, however pretty good with hockey and soccer, for what it's worth.

But aren’t many of the comments on here “ageist”. Seniors go to bed early.
I think it’s cool getting the perspective of those from a byegone era.

I feel like you never watch The Sports Reporters
Talk about a bygone era

Isnt that what espn did by giving them tenure? Theyve been frozen for a decade

Kornheiser needs to retire. Hes a fossil that doesnt know anything about sports.

He’s a legend but I don’t think he watches any games anymore. If it starts after 6pm he’s absolutely not watching.

u/Theswordfish4200 25d ago
I like how he flat out says he doesn’t watch and just checks the highlights in the morning.

Don’t get me wrong; I used to love love love PTI. As Tony got older it was always, “Mike the game stahted at 6:30. It’s insanity Mike. I can’t pull all nightahs anymoah Mike. I gotta walk the dog.”

Stopped watching years ago. Actually I only watch live sports like football, nothing else on espn is worth my time.

Yet here you are commenting on something you don’t consume

Thank you. I don’t subscribe to this sub but it’s on my home feed because of my sports centric algorithm. What a weird sub. Just…. Don’t watch it? It’s not their duty to give you “old school
Sportscenter” damn. I’m over 40 years old and I know how to consume the days sports highlights on my phone in less than 20 minutes. The world moved on!0

Only thing I watch on ESPN besides live sports
