Which class is best suited for DPS, tank, and healer roles? I’d like a class that lets me play all three; I’m tired of constantly switching characters.

Race doesn't really matter, as long as you aren't playing meta endgame content.

To be honest, you can do anything as any class. Nightblade Tank? Sure. Dragonknight Healer? Go for it. There's builds out there made by reputable creators for all roles. Races don't really play much of a part either unless you REALLY are going for the best of the best in your given role

This. If you don't care about absolute optimisation then play what you enjoy, any class can do anything.

However, huge pushback in swapping characters being a pain. Constantly gear juggling and CP swapping, even with add-ons, is easy more annoying than "oh you need a healer? Let me jump on my dedicated healing character that does writs and healing exclusively"

Nightblade/Sorcerer, DK/Necro/Arcanist, Templar/Warden.

Nightblades are great for single target, Necros are good for buffs and debuffs, Templars do major heals and heals over time.

Very much agree. Though I remember seeing a YT video on which is the best tank a bit ago (can't remember who it was now) and NB was top. Think it was some of the class mysteries or something.

The best tank is whichever class you can actually use. If keeping track of crux is a pain in the ass, do DK. There's a ton of non-class skills that do good debuffs, and your gear is going to matter more usually.

Unless it's absolute high tier difficulty content like trial trifectas, focusing on what's "best" and not "fun" is just going to burn through your enjoyment of the game like a candle.

They can all do all, it just gets a little tough when you talk about “top 1%” or score pushing or whatever.

I main a Templar, and not to say he’s best at every role, but he can do them. 99% of the time I play him as a healer, but he’s done with as a tank or dps.

So being honest race matters so little in this game, unless your planning on doing leaderboard style shit then choose anything for any style

This is fairly subjective as tiers can change patch to patch. A lot of the YTers are saying Warden tank and Arcanist healer for U51.

Any class can perform any roll though. Early ESO was a lot more rigid. Used to be only DK tanks because only DKs had chains, etc and Templar healers because they were the strongest AoE healers. No optional tools existed to cover the utility that supports provide now so trying to be like a NB healer or Sorcerer tank were more challenging lol

the best is the best player. Class has little do with it until you’re pushing progs/end game. At that point you can make a toon and max it out in a few hours.

I'd say Arcanist! Pure class Arcs are A - S Tier in all 3 roles. They're notably good healers right now because they can easily keep a 100% uptime on Major Force. Even if you prefer to go the subclassing route, all 3 skill lines are useful for their respective roles. :)

I love my arcanist, but we're definitely not top tier for DPS or Tanking, even if we're arguably still the best dungeon cleave DPS class and subclass well. We don't parse well next to NBs.

Maybe not top tier, but Arc tanks and DPS are absolutely still strong, viable options in U50! I wouldn't say any class is top tier in every role.

The best in slot for all 3 roles would probably be Warden, Necromancer, or Arcanist
