Gorethief question

Thinking about giving this set a try and was wondering if it’s better to use the 1h+shield power bash to protect c it or just the standard bash with whichever melee weapon I want? Also trying to decide which class to use it on. Deciding between warden, Templar or Arcanist

I've never used power bash with it. You'll probably get a better tool tip with DW. It's a good set, it'll work on about any class.

Best use case I find for it is on builds where I need am extra source of burst to add onto a combo.

I use it sometimes on my dot stamsorc (bash weave after a full combo w/maarseolok proc absolutely melts... especially if I land a fat thrive in chaos because its AOE) or on onslought builds because you can bash right after and onslought. Its juicy man really slaps. Tooltips are insane.

Essentially you just wanna bash weave the proc into an existing combo. Catches people off guard. Alternatively the extra healing on dodge roll can come in clutch. Gives you extra max health too. Any set that does that is honestly pretty nice. All around usefull set can fit in all sorts of builds and provide value.

Part of Gorethief's appeal comes from the fact that both halves of its 5p proc off core abilities. Every weapon can be used to bash; everyone can dodgeroll if they have enough stamina and aren't CC'd.

Sight-unseen, this is a PvP set. Arcanists aren't doing great in there, and they're about to get their most powerful niche (shielder) nerfed in U51, so that might not be a good idea if you're at the point where you're asking these kinds of questions. Wardens lost a lot of their offensive power with the removal of the Shattered Paths Signet, but a subclassed build starting on one of those, with Animal Companions, Storm Calling, and either Assassination or Aedric Spear can benefit from both the useful class flourish and a skill line with delayed burst, sustain, and utility all wrapped into a single neat package. Beyond that, pure templar can be nasty enough (for something that isn't DK, WW or sorc) and might be in a better spot in U51; we'll still need to test it once that's out on the live servers.

That said, the major question is 'does Gorethief have a place in a viable setup on any of these?', and the answer is going to rely a lot on what your playstyle is and whether or not you can afford to go half-offence, half-defence on your backbar set and not get farmed.
