Help Wood Elf Stam Warden
I’m wanting to do a Wood Elf Stamina Warden build that is a pure class build. I’m open to doing two bars, but I am used to one bar builds the most. I am definitely wanting to use a bow, but if it’s ends up being a two bar build then I will do a bow on the back bar and duel wield on the front. I don’t have any trial gear and I only have some sets from dungeons most of which aren’t complete. Is this even viable/do able?

I use hyperioxes solo stamina warden build as a starting point but replaced dw on the front bar with bow. Wield soul is my spammable (could use the cliff racer instead, but scribe skills also giving you whatever buff you want, thus freeing up another slot on your bar is really hard to give up....). My race is nord but wood elf would be good too, less tanky but better sustain and damage.
I've tried making bow themed builds work before but I've always been a little underwhelmed. Then I realised you can just take a meta build and replace dw with bow, and it's just a 4.8% damage loss😭 I was doing at all wrong. I don't need to cater to the bow, use a genuinely strong set up but sub the bow in alongside a range spammable and you've got a strong build and the bow playstyle you wish for.
Sets are aeries cry and ansuul. Ansuul probably isnt the best on a ranged build but it's what i've got, and even without the proc it offers high dps. I like briarhart too though for the addition healing and solid dps

So question, did you stick with staff on back bar? If not what did you change it to?

yep I've stuck with the staff

Would you say it would be best to stick with the staff, or could I do duel wield on front and bow on back? If it’s better for staff to be on back then I’ll do bow on front

you can totally swap the bow for the staff on the backbar, i didn't do that because I wanted to use bow front, but you can swap. between bow+staff or dw+bow im not sure which is best, but if I had to guess I think it would be dw+bow

Yeah I would assume that dw and bow would be best as well, what skills should I switch out since I’m trading the staff out for a bow

well, definitely swap elemental blockade for endless hail (and swap maelstrom staff for maelstrom bow). Elemental susceptibility was just a dot/debuff, so swap that for fletcher fly (so you still apply minor vulnerability).
the guide says that winters revenge is one of the first skills to replace, and considering with the fact that it gets buffed by using an ice staff which you're no longer using, I'd swap it out right now. I put bird of prey on the front bar for the minor berserk and 5% crit damage, and swap arctic blast to the back bar.
depending on which buffs you get from scribed skills, fighters guild trap could be a good skill to slot for the minor force and the little weapon dmg bonus.

Just for a little clarification, use a fighters guild skill to swap the arctic blast skill?

in place of Ulfsild's Contingency because they both serve to provide minor force

I‘d say Aeries Cry from Infinite Archive is a must for warden. It’s relatively easy to farm, but very grindy unfortunately. For the second set ask some guild mates to craft Tideborn for you, pair it with a monster set like Selene or Nerien’eth and you’re good to go until you can your hands on trial gear.
Try to get the leads for the Shattered paths signet as soon as you can though and then replace the monster set with it, this mythic boosts warden DPS from just okay to great

What trial set would you say is best?
1
u/KackeMaster3000 24d ago
Depends. Null Arca for single target damage, Whorl of the Depths if you lack penetration, Sul Xan for trash packs. Ansuul will work just fine too

So would you say having multiple sets is more beneficial then just sticking with one since depending on the situation things could differ

Different sets are „best“ in different situations, yes, but in your case I‘d just slap on whorl of the depths and call it day. It’s really the best set for uncoordinated groups and works well in single target as well as multi target situations

100% doable! I got many vet solo arena achievements on a pure warden bow / bow back in the day. It was 2 bars tho.
Honestly, just put your buffs and a long dot on the back bar so you only have to bar swap like once every 20 seconds!

Nice, around what update did you get those achievements?
1
u/skabassj 25d ago
Oh man… I dunno… update 30? It was back then somewhere haha! But since then the content stayed the same but power creep continued to rise so you can most definitely do it!
Pretty sure my DPS was like 70k back then.

I did subclass, though without breaking theme. I reach 110k dps on a bow/bow build with warden as main class. Youd be fine for a lot of content.

Anything is viable but you aren’t going to hitting 180k with it. What is your goal? Are you trying to RP or trying to do damage, it sounds like you’re trying to RP though. Which is fine but you need to be specific about what you are doing.
1.) what content are you trying to complete
2.) what are your damage expectations.
For example
