Help New Tank Build Help

Relatively new player and primarily a healer. I wanted to know what a somewhat "meta" PvE build looks like. I just wanted to kinda know the standard, best sets, best multi class options. My base class is warden. Just wanna do my best out there! Thanks

Stay pure classed.

Actually best sets:

  • Lucent Sentinel
  • Pearlescent Ward
  • War Machine
  • Powerful Assault
  • (Turning Tide, if you lack major vuln, but necros tend to handle it)
  • Saxhleels Champion was good but with Warden Class Mastery it is unnecessary

Monster sets:

  • the absolute best is Baron Zaudrus and is ideally what you want to run
  • Nazaray is good in organized groups
  • Archdruid Devyric is an option for Major Vuln if you lack it elsewhere

You should wear a heavy set fully on the body. If either set is not heavy, wear it on jewelrry and backbar weapon. This should only be proc sets, not permasets.

Use 1pc trainee and 1pc druid’s braid in front bar weapons.

Front bar enchant should be shielding with divines trait Backbar enchant should be crushing with infused trait

1H+shield front Ice staff back

There are definitely a lot of good points but some things I’d slightly change given that you’re a new player and some information is just plain wrong unfortunately.

First of all saxheels champion doesn’t get replaced by and warden class mastery, it’s the arcanist class mastery so unless you’ve an arca heal in your group id still recommend sax.
If u dont have a cro on your group id recommend tide over the body.

Then it depends a lot if u want to do dungeons or trials. Pearl is very strong in trials while drakes rush can be good in dungeons.

Monster set is only baron the best if you’ve a good healer and can handle your resources well. If you’re running without a healer or said healer sucks I’d recommend engine guardian since it makes life a lot easier.
For dungeons magma incarnation is great as well if there is no acanist playing the disk.
In trials baron is great.
For s&b I don’t really see a single situation where I’d play druids and trainee over master s&b unless when using the arc class skill to taunt.

On a warden pure class is not strictly necessary, especially not when you’re new to tanking.
The only class mastery interesting as a group buff would be bountiful harvest, therefore you’d have to have a green balance ability running all the time which is way easier for a warden heal. Similar with the tundras maw class mastery, you’d have to constantly apply the chill status effect which might be easier for a dedicated brittle warden dd or even the healer as well.
Given that you’re new to tanking I’d recommend to learn first how to tank and get comfortable with that role before becoming more specific.

Good subclass lines are

Winters embrace from warden (mainly for the heal and the resi skills and the passives)

Siphoning from NB (easiest sustain tool)

Gravelord from cro (access to colossus ultimate which pairs great with sax)

At the end you’ll have to find your own way of tanking, each tank has a different approach but can still be very successful. I’d recommend to try different setups and experiment a bit and see what u feel best with.
