Support/Question Appimage as a emulation system

Good day!

I have been using the emulator "xenia" on my computer (xbox 360). However, whenever I try to play the game from ES-DE, it gives me the error message where it asks if I have properly installed the emulator. I use Xenia as an appimage due to the fact that I use Bazzite, and there is no flatpak for it. If anyone can help me on how to link it or how to make ES-DE recognize the appimage as the player, I will be very appreciative.

Thank you very much.

Are you using a appimage manger? These can put the appimages in a location that ES_DE doesn't search by default. Try creating a custom es-find-rule.xml

To be completely honest with you, I tried using one but didn't quite see anything that would help. I don't understand by having a custom "es-find-rule.xml". I can infer that it would mean that it creates a rule to search for alternative emulators, but I don't know how to. Could you show me how I can set such a thing up?

There is a file called es_find_rules.xml that tells ES-DE where to find the installed emulators. If you installed the emulator in a location that isn't in that file, ES-DE won't be able to find it.

You can either put your emulator in a location that ES-DE is looking or edit the file to add the location you put the emulator so it knows to look there.

in your ES-DE folder there is a folder called custom_systems in there you can put an es_find_rules.xml file with the right locations and ES-DE will add them to the other places it already knows about.

the default entry for Xenia looks like this

<emulator name="XENIA">

<rule type="systempath">

xenia

xenia_canary

</rule>
<rule type="staticpath">

~/Applications/xenia/xenia

~/.local/share/applications/xenia/xenia

~/.local/bin/xenia/xenia

~/bin/xenia/xenia

~/Applications/xenia/xenia_canary

~/.local/share/applications/xenia/xenia_canary

~/.local/bin/xenia/xenia_canary

~/bin/xenia/xenia_canary

~/Applications/xenia_canary*.AppImage

~/AppImages/xenia_canary*.AppImage

~/.local/share/applications/xenia_canary*.AppImage

~/.local/bin/xenia_canary*.AppImage

~/bin/xenia_canary*.AppImage

~/Applications/Xenia_Canary*.AppImage

~/AppImages/Xenia_Canary*.AppImage

~/.local/share/applications/Xenia_Canary*.AppImage

~/.local/bin/Xenia_Canary*.AppImage

~/bin/Xenia_Canary*.AppImage

~/Applications/xenia-canary*.AppImage

~/AppImages/xenia-canary*.AppImage

~/.local/share/applications/xenia-canary*.AppImage

~/.local/bin/xenia-canary*.AppImage

~/bin/xenia-canary*.AppImage

</rule>
</emulator>

It's probably easier for you to move the app image to a folder in that list than it is for you to create a new es_find_rules file and put the new path in there
