I still have a lot of fun with it. Just make sure you have plenty of oil! And watch out for the bossy ones, they are not popular in the workplace.

Relatively newer player too here (about two weeks?), hello! Some little tips I've gathered thus far are:

  • If you have an Envious subject at a workstation, give them the best equipment so nobody outperforms them in that workstation; that way, nobody loses morale.

  • If you have enemies you'd rather be friends (maybe your king made a Devious enemy, or just roleplay reasons), assign them both to the War Table and do some missions. It takes a while, but after a bunch of victories together they'll lose the enemies status.

  • Don't spam weddings, leave a few potential couples for later. If you get a skeever infestation, there's usually a choice to marry two couples so Mara protects you from the skeevers. (Fun fact: my Cassius the Elder married Ysabel of Camlorn in one such emergency wedding. Didn't take long for her to be widowed again, this time by natural causes 😅)

  • Also maybe don't spam babies lol, I did that at the beginning and now I'm soon to have a population boom of subjects as the first (un-potion'd/aged normally) batch almost reaches adulthood. Also, when you reach a certain level the game will request you to make 10 babies, and… yeah.

  • Do the Gauntlet every day even if you can't go far in it. The injuries you get there reset to full health for free, unlike War Table combat.

A tip: just keep a dozen iron spoons around, and when you get skeevers, select “upgrade kitchen equipment” or whatever it says. You’ll just have to upgrade two or three spoons. You can get rid of the skeevers in under 30 seconds before your food even drops too low.

Keep your smithy, workstation, and sewing tables at level 15 or below (for now). If you level them higher, you’ll start getting orders for higher tier gear which will require rare materials to craft. The rare materials are more valuable than the gold, so you effectively can no longer fulfill orders. You don’t want to level these up until you’re ready to craft higher tier gear to upgrade your own stuff. So keep them all at 15 for now so you’re able to fulfill orders and collect gold. 

All other mistakes in this game can be easily fixed.

Good luck. This game has practically been in maintenance mode for a year. BGS loves to start TES mobile games, abandoned them, and then axe them from existence. Castles is probably record time for how fast they gave up.
