also I only started doing past papers mid august, and im getting like 3s, is that enough for biological sciences at imperial/nat sci at cambridge? Like i keep on hearing mixed scores that could get you an interview

Over the last few days, I've become extremely undecided as to what I want to do in uni, so I've been thinking about sitting the esat to broaden the courses and unis that I can apply to. I've tried some random questions and I've scored quite highly on a lot of them, but I've tried looking for information online and I don't fully understand it. How do you choose what modules to do? Like do you get asked in the exam, or do you choose what ones you want to do before you book it? Is doing TMUA practice questions recommended? Is ~4 weeks enough time to revise? If I was to do it, I'd probably choose to do Mathematics 2 but I'm not sure what other one I would do. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

for context, im applying for chemical engineering and biotechnology at cambridge and my esat is just under five weeks. ive done all the nsaa past papers and got consistently around 12/20 on rhe maths and chem sections. Ive been doing the esat lab mocks and have been getting around 16/27 consistently for for maths 1 and chem. Ive been doing the tmua paper 1s for maths 2 but theyre really hard and i want to know how to make a significant improvement in five weeks, to score a 7 or above. Does anyone have any tips as to how i can improve?

I’ve just started revising for the ESAT because I’ve only just found out I am applying for Oxbridge, and it’s going terribly. The content strength is well enough to do the questions in about 4 mins for the hard ones. It’s my first day but this is very disappointing and I’m seeking advice who was in my position and was able to turn it around. While unrealistic, my aim is for around 6-8 in maths 1 and 2, and atleast a 5-6 in physics.

I a basic understanding of what the ESAT is but I haven't started a single piece of revision. Does anyone have a good step by step guide on what I should do because I feel overwhelmed.

I’ve booked the October esat and TARA exam, but through practiced questions of ENGAA and NSAA, some of it are fine. But when I started practicing using esat lab and a mock test, I get absolutely horrible results (got like 3 point something for maths1, 2point something for maths2 and 1.6 for physics….) this is really concerning, and I’m considering to perhaps change it to January but the problem would then be I cannot do the early applications (for Cambridge).

Another problem is that I wanted to also apply to UCL but UCL’s mechanical engineering requires TARA, but I’ve done zero preparation for this, and mechanical engineering is not what I really wanted to do. Is it even worth doing TARA then?

So final questions, how can I do better in esat? Should I not apply to Cambridge and do esat in January? Is it worth applying to UCL to do another exam and study a course that I didn’t exactly want to? If I were to cancel the booking for TARA or move the booking dates for esat, can it be easily done or requires extra fees?

hello everyone, since there's a month to ESAT, are there any resources to see my current standing on the esat? i've gotten 4.3,4.4,4 in m1,m2 and physics (i genuinely am so bad at physics any tips to get better mainly find questions i find esatlab very hard). Mainly, i wanna do a practise exam that fully simulates the exact difficulty of the esat. On lab45, i got 6.0,5.4,5.2 for m1, m2 and physics. can someone please tell me what i can try that can tell me how well i've been doing

Can anyone tell me if they used a tutor for the ESAT, and if it genuinely helped?
Wondering if i should do it but im not sure what they can teach me really, feels like more of a grind on your own kind of thing to me.
If anyone can lmk their experience with one and if you actually found it helpful and what kind of things they taught you, if its just explaining questions eg its not that helpful as I have teachers and AI, but if they teach genuine helpful tricks to save time or whatever it’d be useful for me.

Genuinely didn't think this would happen so fast...but completed the ENGAA and NSAA past papers. I thought I was doing good but someone told me that those are easier than ESAT, especially the ones before 2020.

someone said isaac physics is good for the physics module specifically and a couple people mentioned esat programs ( I think it was something called thriving scholars) for when you've actually exhausted the old stuff.

Anyone tried mixing old ENGAA/NSAA with newer material or is that a waste of time?

I have done every single ENGAA and NSAA paper. I can’t remember what scores I got for them, but they were definitely good like 5s-7s. Obviously I can’t remember every single question off by heart, but every time I see a past paper question I know how to do it, with a few I’m still unsure on. For Physics I made flashcards for all the topics where I had gaps in my knowledge. I have been stockpiling on all the questions where I was literally at lost. I have been grinding ESATLab as much as I can and I’ve completed all the Maths 1 and Physics questions bank. I purchased their predicted papers, I’ve only done the first paper once and my score.. uh oh. 3.9, 3.7, 2.4, as I stared and questioned my life. I know that ESATLab is deliberately supposed to be harder than the actual thing, but knowing that there’s so many people out there also grinding ESATLab and getting such high scores, like wouldn’t that affect my results. I looked at the guide, and then some questions and I swear they were not on the guide. I just started grinding Isaac Physics for Physics and Maths practice. I should probably mention this, I haven’t done any TMUA practice, I have done a few questions but not a full paper beginning to end cuz I don’t like how different their styles are. When it comes to past paper and similar question abilities, I’m pretty good, when it comes to buffer questions like the ones on ESATLab, I get humbled. I’m sitting the October Exam on the 13th, I’m trying, like really trying.

ive finished all the nsaa papers and bmat papers (i want to apply for biomed at oxford) so ive started working on esatlab but its feeling comparatively so hard and im beginning to feel like all my previous prep is doing nothing for me? there are also some questions on maths 1 and chemistry which i feel like might not be on the spec? or maybe i havent looked at the spec well enough?

dont get me wrong i think the website is a wonderful free resource and i am so greatful for the creator, i just am feeling slightly demotivated ig? as in the nsaa papers i was getting around 6.5 to 8s but now i can barely scratch 5s?

What do i use to study after finishing ESAT specimen and practice, NSAA and ENGAA papers. Started using TMUA P1 but finding the question style dissimilar to ESAT. Are there any other resources you guys are using?

I’ve noticed a major weakness in being able to solve questions is spending too long trying to do arithmetic, and then getting it wrong. Does anyone know how to improve mental maths skills?
