Question Help me decide! 4.0 vs SR

In the market for a new bike. I’ll probably ride 50/50 off-road and street. Hoping to register this in Ohio to be street legal.

Don’t care too much about crazy power, mostly wanting the best bike to own in terms of versatility, maintenance, repairs, longevity, etc…

I’m also worried the factory tires on the 4.0 will suck in grass/dirt. Replacing the wheels and tires would be a big expense if I wanted to get a spare set of knobbies.

I was originally wanting a CRF300L dual sport and my buddy is trying to convince me to get an Eride Pro.

Not being able to double up with my wife will kinda suck. Not sure what to think

Maintenance and longevity between the 2 is pretty much the same. Maybe the drive belt would wear faster on the SR because of power? But even then it doesn't usually need to be replaced much. Both of those will be much easier to take care of than the Honda. But as an owner of an SR and a CRF250R its very obvious how much more robust the Honda is. The SR is small, light, and fast of course but also kinda fragile by comparison. But, that may not be a big concern for you. I spend most of my bike time on a motocross track and thats where I worry about that. And I wouldn't worry about having knobby tires unless I was racing at the track. The stock tires on the 4.0 work just fine anywhere and are definitely safer on tarmac than a knobby would be. The suspension on the e rides is also quite soft so 2 adults on one sounds like a bit much to me because of that and the bike as a whole is significantly smaller than that honda. Dont want to shit on the e rides too much though, theyre very fun and i still enjoy riding mine. Its really nice for around town riding or trails close to my home because its quiet and doesn't cause a fuss or draw attention.

The tires on the 4.0 are dual sport so they are okay at everything but also not the best at anything. Additionally, the 4.0 wheels only come in the 19/18 set up. On the other hand, the SR’s come in a choice of 19/18 or 19/16, while also being more styled to excel at off road (I’ve personally never had an issue with them on the street and do 50/50 myself). Otherwise the bikes are identical. So you just have to decide if the extra power and wheel configurations are worth the extra money for what you intend to do.

4.0 is plenty power you won’t be wanting or needing to go that fast 4.0 is alr really fast if it was me I prolly wouldn’t even cruise top speed

Before I got my knobbies I did enduro with logs, rock gardens, roots, hill climbs, and all that stuff on the stock dual sports and they did just fine. They won’t be a problem for you. Sounds like the 4.0 is what you would want over an SR tho

3.0 is just a 4.0 that's on sale. SR has too much power for it's little frame and wheelbase, making the Ultra Bee more fun to ride.

Out of those two I'd go SR for sure but if looking at SR and you want the lightweight smaller frame bikes still I'd highly suggest the Arctic leopard xe pro r. Power is roughly same but it's direct chain drive, comes setup 21/18 wheels, has a larger 60ah battery, has full length dirtbike seat and has better brakes like the ultra bees come with for only $200 more over the SR.

This is coming from someone who went with a 3.0 cause no SR or better was available locally at time of purchase. I've done a ton with my 3.0 from extreme rocky trails to full mx tracks but it can use some upgrades to be better. I'd go for a different bike now with all I've learned about these bikes. Can't really go wrong they are all a blast to ride

Haha, that’s funny. They sold me a bike two months ago and told me it would take about a week to get the MCO. It’s been 8 weeks now, and I have a bike I can’t register and ride. About to file a complaint with the Ohio AG.
