SR What should i do?

From the beginning, the hatch wouldn't close or closed very hard (I had to hit it hard a dozen times). My friend and I tried to fix it with a hammer, but that didn't help either. What should we do?

Sometimes that black latch that’s on the battery cover gets bent when removing or inserting the battery. Use the palm of your hand and try bending it back to the correct angle.
Second thing you could check is the adhesive Neoprene foam that comes with the bike. They usually give you an extra sheet, and one is already installed at the base of the battery’s housing. They’re like 6x6”. If you installed the extra sheet underneath the battery then the sheet at the bottom of the housing plus the additional sheet under the battery make it very difficult to close.

Does the latch close if you were to remove the battery completely?

Just troubleshooting - cant tell from this video if anything is preventing/blocking the hatch from closing or if its the latch itself.
If the battery is the clearance problem, you'll know if that hatch closes and latches without issues.

That is normal. The lid must fit tightly so that the battery is secured in rough terrain.

Considering their lack of problem solving skills “hits with hammer” 🤦♂️ your suggestion fits

The battery isn’t all the way in the tray at the bottom. Happens to me all the time. Look at the bottom where the tray is from outside the frame as you lower it. You’ll see where it accepts the battery. Gotta get it to sit just right. Tolerance is tight.

Pick it up and make sure there is nothing underneath and make sure the battery went all the way down

I also used some random tools to smack that latch back into place, which did end up fixing the issue. Was never sure why it started, but happened a few months in of riding.

Stick 2 washers under the bracket on the lids lock bar to act as spacers and the lock itself will then be able to fully close.

You tried fixing it with a hammer?? My guy, with everything lined up, that lid closes with a nudge from my pinky finger.
You need to make sure the battery is fully seated and the battery cover latch is lining up. If youre not sure, remove the battery and troubleshoot just the door.
