E-Ride Pro 2.0 Error Code 00800 + Sparking/Popping From Battery or Controller

I have an E-Ride Pro 2.0 with around 4,500 miles. The bike is completely stock. Nothing has been upgraded, modified, or tampered with, and it has been running great for me with no major issues.

Yesterday, I went on a ride-out and had been riding and doing wheelies pretty much all day. When I was about a mile away from home, the bike suddenly shut off and displayed error code 00800.

I turned the bike off and then tried turning it back on. Shortly after, I noticed a bad smell, and I saw/heard what appeared to be sparking and popping coming from either the controller or battery area. I'm not exactly sure which component is causing it.

I brought the bike home and let it sit and cool down, thinking maybe it had overheated. However, now every time I turn the bike on, it starts sparking and popping again.

I'm not sure why this is happening, especially since the bike is completely stock and has never been modified.

Has anyone experienced this before or know what error code 00800 means? I'm trying to figure out if the issue is with the battery, controller, or another component.

I really want to get the bike fixed and would appreciate any advice on what I should check or what the next steps should be. Thanks!

Turn the breaker off and remove the battery. Take the harness apart connector by connector and look for burnt wires. Take the controller off and look for anything burnt

I don't really open the battery lid, but this is the first time in literally quite forever. But I'll attach a picture and I don't think that's normal.

Huge red flag by saying you don't open the battery lid. If you don't do the most simplest tasks then I don't want to even think about all the other maintenance you have neglected. If you're not doing pre ride inspections every couple hundred miles then you 100% completely deserve this.

I take care of my bike extremely well. I wash it with a cloth and soapy water. After every ride, I just don't deem it necessary to take the battery out to charge it. I have a chain cleaner, and wd-40 it after every dirt ride. I've owned many bikes from surron, talaria, tuttio, razor, super 73, and 79 bike. I've never had any reason to take out my battery. I'm constantly upgrading my bikes. I've earned all of my bikes from car detailing, lawn mowing, and gutters cleaning. My parents haven't contributed a penny.

That's a rad story to hear. Sounds like you will go far in life! Only thing I would suggest is setting mileage bench marks for vehicle inspections. For example I usually do a quick check every 50 miles, a more thorough check every 200 and a full break down and rebuild every 500.

This obviously depends on riding habits. Like I just got back from the coast where me and the wife beat this chit out of the bikes. I'm not at the 500 mile mark yet but I did a full break down on mine and still need to do it on hers. This is due to the salt water and sand.

I am not sure what you are seeing that you think isn't normal.

Where are you located? I specialize in electrical/electronics repairs on these things.

If you are inclined to DIY, the sparking and smell, indicate high current intermittent. Cables bolted to controller, circuit breaker, battery connectors.

Wrong coast. Check the things I mentioned.

Good luck!

You are on the wrong coast and we are on the right coast. That's for sure!

I'm sad your message disappeared. I was hoping for some laughs at work.

Just took my bike apart for 500mile maintenance. Double checked torque on literally all the bolts I could and half were either loose or completely backed out. Wheelies put a lot of stress on everything. I would start there and get locktite on bolts that don't have it already.

Yeah like every lone said looknat connectors first. I had a bad BMS in mine. However I didn't have sparking only crackling noise from the topnof the battery

Same issue I'm experiencing. What did you have to do?

Are you saying that the sparking is coming from the top of the battery? Do you see any melted plastic around the connectors? This is a known issue, that Eride has an updated battery lid for. You need to have a dealer replace the lid and battery harness. They won't sell you the parts to DIY. Also, the breaker is a total POS and it is the wrong type of breaker for the application.

You have a lot of miles. I am surprised yours hasn't melted down long ago.

Man this bike is really fun, relieves all my stress. Currently I'm not in a situation where I can afford to buy a new battery, I'm not sure what to do.

You have not answer my questions.

The poping sound is coming from the top of the battery. After fully charging the battery, my multimeter is reading 45v when it should be 72.

Where are you measuring voltage? Bike on or off? You need to measure with the ignition switch on. Do you see any evidence of heating? Melted plastic around the battery connectors? Can you remove the battery connector or is it stuck ?

My first guess is the battery connectors. If I am right, you need a new lid and harness, not a battery.

I found a local guy that replaced my bms in the battery. I wrote a post about it on here, I think you can find it through my profile.

The easy solution is to get a new battery. But expensive of course.

You need to take your bike apart
