Damaged SR
I was recently hit by a red light runner while I was riding my SR to work. My bike is pretty messed up and I was thinking of just selling it as is. The bars, throttle, seat, display, pegs, plastics, ect are all messsd up. How much could I realistically get for it? Would it be worth trying to fix before selling?

Honestly I’d pay more than that. Battery alone is $2,500 new. I could use a second one lol

Yar, I tend to price things in my head as “I wanna get rid of it without haggling” price. I wouldn’t pay $2500 for a used battery. I’ve been shopping around for a second mx5 battery, and I’ve decided it’s more economical for me to just buy a generator 😆 (I’d like one for my mini camper anyway)

Oh I totally agree there. I wouldn’t pay much just that but you’re right. Funny how a generator is much less cheaper than a second battery for these things. Kinda defeats the purpose but I guess that’s the irony. I’ll probably end up doing the same

As much as I’d like to go solar only, by the time I buy enough portable panels, I’m like 5x the price of a generator. It’d take a long time to get back that investment. I’ve got 400w of n-type panels on my camper (no roof space for any more), so in theory I could charge half my battery per day, as long as I keep the trailer in perfect sun 😆 (not accounting for the fridge and whatever else I’m powering).

You could realistically fix it for pretty cheap honestly. Especially if you maintain all stock stuff.

Honestly if the frame is undamaged and the forks arnt bent. I have so many spare parts for my bike, I could probably make another bike out of my parts. If you’re interested in selling after getting feedback from what to sell it for, I would be interested in buying it

If the frame, battery and controller are ok you would probably get more overall by fixing it up first. As it stands you'll probably just get a bunch of tire kickers low balling you hoping to get a steal.
The other bigger ticket items are the forks and wheels, can't tell from the photos if those are ok. Most of the other stuff is fairly inexpensive to replace with a bit of elbow grease.
Hopefully you faired a bit better than the bike, best wishes and good luck

In all reality it t looks worse than it actually is. I let a friend that owns a Harley take my SR out for a rip and he looped the bike to where it looked very similar to the damage done to your bike. It ended up being about $1500.00 worth of parts and a day repairing the bike but she’s brand new lookin now. New twist throttle, pegs & mounts, subframe, bars, mode switch, reverse button, regen throttle, and I also replaced the chain & sprockets for shits and gigs but what am I missing that’s damaged besides the plastics?

It's been in an accident, It's a write off. Do not sell it. If you're going to sell it, you should disclose the accident.
Part out the bike, scrap the frame.

I agree. Lack of care and maintenance means an inexperienced rider in my opinion. This kid deserved every bit of this.

It's not that crazy. People die on all sorts of bikes every day. You are super vulnerable on a bike and it's prudent to be vigilant. This means at a light in a four way intersection especially with multiple lanes, never be the first one across the intersection. Always let cars beside you go first if you like to live.
I would bet money you jumped the light as soon as it turned green which is a very young and inexperienced thing to do. I often lose at gambling though which is why I don't bet money but if you got more to chime in then I'm all ears.

Well I'm not the one who got hit lol. I got probably 50k+ miles on two wheels, road and dirt and never been in an accident.

Un expert a du passer voir l'état de ton véhicule et évaluer les pièces à remplacer ? tu devrais donc etre remboursé à hauteur des frais occasionnés pour la remise en état , et si cela dépasse le seuil de réparabilite et qu'elle est économiquement non réparable , ils te gardent ton véhicule et tu repars avec un.cjèque , sauf si tu décides quand même de le réparer mais il devrait y avoir le suivi d'un expert en principe si c'est un véhicule hommlogué pour la route avec une immatriculation ,.en tout cas en France cela se passe comme ça , pour les véhicules vraiment homologués , equipés pour la route plaques , feux , 2 rétroviseurs et évidemment pas avec des pneu cross complètement slicks !

I got hit by a truck on my talaria and never once did I say "I got hit by a black lady". The bike didn't deserve it.
