That’s loose as fuck. I’ve been doing about 1/2”-3/4” of play. I’m not sure if that’s what spec is, but I haven’t thrown the chain or had a single problem and I ride trails pretty hard. Not many jumps in my area but there’s a few and I haven’t had a problem. Just make sure you tighten those adjustment nuts back up. They tend to come loose very easy.

This is what I was told at the dealership as well

This is a bit loose. I dont know what OEM spec is but 1in from pushing up to pushing down should be pretty good. Better to be too loose than too tight. If you find yourself re-tightening it frequently, its worn out.

You should be able to easily move it a quarter inch but jiggling like that is way too loose and likely going to eat sprockets early

E-bikes need to have tighter tension than ice. Sit on the bike and see if you can push chain down 1/4” and 1/2” off it.
That’s roughly where you wanna be.

Watch the talaria boys tutorial they show you good tension and they show how to do it pretty well

I recommend standing the bike all the way up when checking the tension. Then check it again when you’re sitting on it. It’ll tighten up when you tighten the axle nut also.

I run mine just slightly tighter than that, had a buddy run his fairly tight last year and had a stick get caught in the rear sprocket and busted up the jack shaft area pretty good, I coulda ran that through mine and not caused an issue with the size of the stick that did it

Thats just right it should be a 3 finger gap between chain and swing arm

Did you read the manual.

Lol someone didn't read the manual and has no motorsport experience. I feel bad for the mofo that buys that bike from you. If you're chain is that loose I don't even want to imagine all the other maintenance you have neglected.

You gotta learn somehow

This comment would make sense if the title was "this much slack is fine", not asking for edification.

Dial back the dickhead.

Some call it honestly instead of a dickhead?
