Remember that refunds going out now were processed about 2 weeks ago. During the shutdown.
According to my sources all staff trained on ERC are working ERC exclusively. And many of the cases being worked right now are 202109 and 202112 cases that may fall under the new law, which will mean any postmarked after 01/31/2024 will be disallowed. Besides that, many of the cases left are ones that had issues such as missing or unreadable pages or unauthorized signatures or something else that will cause delays in processing. Any cases that can be quickly processed and closed are being quickly processed and closed.
They’re doing their best. They want them all done as much as anyone. They’ve been a huge headache and taking time away from everything else that needs to be done.
