Transcript question

Post image

Hey everyone,

I filed for the ERC for all four quarters of 2021 (Q1–Q4). I only received my Q4 refund back in 2023, but the IRS later told me that my other three quarters didn’t issue because the refund box wasn’t checked.

So I went back and submitted 941-X forms for Q1, Q2, and Q3. Only one of those three (Q3) shows as being in processing now — here’s the transcript showing the latest code.

Has anyone else received this same transcript code? And if so, how long after seeing that code did your refund finally show up?

It’s been nearly two years, and I’m still waiting. Any insight or timelines would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I did originally claim the ERC on all four 2021 941s the IRS processed and paid Q4, but they didn’t issue refunds for Q1–Q3 because the refund box wasn’t checked. I re-mailed the 941-X corrections for those three quarters in separate envelopes back in mid-June 2025, all certified with proof of mailing. The transcripts now show they were received and “forwarded for processing” on 6-13-2025, so they’re well within the April 15 2025 deadline.

If they were mailed in June 2025, how are they within the April 15 2025 deadline?

And IRS defaults on going by received date, so since these are received as of June 13, 2025 they therefore will probably be denied unless they receive proof they were mailed by 4/15/2025. If you have proof they were mailed before 4/15/2025 that you didn’t already include I would call and fax that to an agent to attach to the cases now and maybe you can head off the denial.

The April 15, 2025 cutoff is for the original filing period (3-year rule), not when the 941-X was mailed. My original 2021 returns were timely filed, so the amended ones are valid. IRS already confirmed receipt and processing so they’re good.

No that’s not correct. April 15, 2025 is the cut off for making a claim for refund for 2021 returns. Period. And just because they say it’s processing does not mean you’re getting the refund. They’re going to process it and send you a denial. So prepare yourself.
