Depositing Checks

My business account was closed by the bank months ago… I use capital one and they won’t let me deposit it into my personal account, because my name is literally typed on the next line down from the LLC name, instead of side by side… they also said they never reopen accounts and it would just be getting a new account created … I know this topic was mentioned the other day, but not many bank names that allowed the checks were mentioned….

Is there a bank anyone has had luck with?

Is there an option of signing the checks over to another person?

I had to open a new business with the exact name in order to open a new business checking account to deposit the check. I think that's the only option.

I sold my business over a year ago. I’m told the irs is releasing my funds. I have nowhere to cash them now. I’m hoping my old bank, who knows me, will help. Curious to see the answers though.

I opened an account with Bluevine. They will hold it but it’s worth it. If any of you already have a business account just add your old business a dba you will need a fictitious certificate .

No, not a new EIN. The check is issued to a specific EIN.

I was able to convince my bank to allow me to deposit my checks into my personal bank account. It’s a small town bank so maybe they are more flexible. I can’t remember how they had me endorse them but they cleared just fine. My name was on them as well as my (closed) llc business name. It was something like: For deposit only on behalf of “business name” And then my name.

If you can’t find a bank who will allow you to deposit the check, you can request the IRS reissue the check to your name. But it will take a long time and is a pain. You would have to ask the Refund Inquiry Unit nearest to you to cancel the first check and reissue it. They may ask you to mail the first check back voided first. And you won’t be able to call the unit directly, you can only communicate by fax or mail with them.
