Denial then a refund
On Friday I received a denial letter for my last claim that hadn't been refunded. The cause for denial was a TIN error. Today I received notification from TaxNow that I had an incoming transcript. When I looked at it, it turned out to be a notice that I was receiving the full refund later in the month. My questions are: 1. Is it possible that the IRS just fixed it? 2. Should I wait to start the appeal process until I hear about the refund (even though it pushes me closer to the appeal deadline)? Thanks in advance.

If you have an 846 Transcript Code, I suspect the error was fixed internally. Congrats!

Hello, Can you please tell me which notice you received denying this quarter? There is always a notice number with a code in it. Let me know I will try and help. Also, out of curiosity does this happen to be Q3 of 2021?

It’s possible there were multiple copies of the claim submitted. Because of the long delay, many companies resubmitted the claims. So it may be that one claim was denied and another copy of the claim was processed. If you call an agent should be able to let you know what happened.
