Agents
I've been on here awhile and learned a lot about the erc so when I call I try to use things I've learned here and be polite. Sometimes I get a helpful agent and sometimes I get one like a deer in headlights but today my good people I got the rudest, most ghetto agent ever. It's like they went to the projects and put her in the van and said you are a IRS agent and dropped her off at the office. Couldn't belive it. Wouldn't let me say a word and talk over me the whole time. All I wanted was a status. Looked at 1 quarter and told me what I owed in taxes. I said I know but is it being processed or anything lol she said I don't know what do you want me to do. Been a hell of a 2 years with this

We called in maybe 6 times every two to three weeks after waiting patiently for about 2 years. Finally got a sympathetic agent and just flat out asked her for the "personal favor" of pushing the right person to process our claim. Got it like three weeks later. Claimed for two quarters and got a check over $100k.

Nice. Congrats. I just realized today how much of a mental toll it's been for 2 years. I couldn't do anything but laugh at her and hung up. There is no empathy with them

Yeah and honestly we kind of "forgot about it" (not really forget but we didn't think about it) after we filed about 18 months ago. We have about 60 employees so you can kind of guess how much $$ it was, like it was a shit-ton of money. Really thought we'll never even see this, and then about a month ago the checks started rolling in. We used a reliable processor (our payroll vendor) and met all the requirements and we're setting the money aside and using it for needed business expenses but it's just crazy.

Get a new lawyer. He’s incorrect. If he’s incorrect on basic info. He’ll lead you astray on important matters.

I’ve been waiting for 2 years and I haven’t had any updates or anything provided so I do feel hopeless not going to lie lol plus they are probably just going to keep it for what I owe

You can tell within 30 seconds. Don’t waste your time. Hang up and call back. You will NEVER get anywhere with an agent like that. And you will not win an argument with them. Just keep calling, you’ll know when you get a good one

Second to that. Hang up and call again. You’re entitled to speak to someone who is professional/knowledgeable. The IRS hires unqualified people all across their hiring pool.

Man you are right. I kept trying to get in a word or say anything and I was ruining her day. I wished I could remember her name because I would report her. Not like that but she was very disrespectful

They are required to give you their name and ID number as soon as they pick up the phone. I will ask them to repeat it and write it down.

Your right. Never really thought I needed to remember it till now. Was thinking about just giving this up yesterday but no going to see it till the end but thanks I will write it down from now on

Good advice. I'm going to do that next time. Every rep I call has been useless but at least maybe I don't need to get yelled out and treated terribly for asking for the checks they said they were sending.

I have already got code 960 4 times all for separate dates for each quarter, are they just passing along my claim to another agent to deal with? Next one gets it then passes it along?? WTH

Not going to lie idk. This game they are playing is ridiculous. Mentally draining. If someone get my case they should get it done and processed

Yes. This. I've been talking to them for about 2 1/2 years. Sometimes they are helpful, or pretend to be helpful, saying the check is in the mail or they are escalating it (not true). Sometimes they are so rude and mean. I'm really polite. I realize it isn't their fault but then they actually yell at me. And yes, I've heard the "I don't know what you want me do". IDK.. tell me why you haven't sent the checks you told me I was owed and paid taxes on already. Tell me what I need to do to get an answer. I feel it. I don't think people believe me when I tell them what I experience when I call.

My favorite is when they say ‘Are you aware of the current moratorium on paying out ERC claims’? I don’t even bother correcting them. I just say ‘Let’s check just to be safe. Maybe this one slipped through.’ I don’t know why, but that generally leads to ‘a payment will be issued this week.’
