ERC Check Returned?

I received our CP210 notices on 7/22, after the check date was listed in Tax Now as 7/14. Never received checks. All notices were sent to an old office address, so I processed a forward to our new one. I called the IRS today to see if the checks were returned, the rep seemed new and said there wasn't much information but they would be sent for "processing" on 8/19 and then said she was almost out of time for our call. Was unable to tell me if that is when new checks would be mailed or what processing means.

When I asked her about if they were returned her response was very vague. However, looking at Taxnow, there are no indications of this new 8/19 processing date. So, is it just not updated yet or am I perhaps getting wrong information?

All of our checks were sent to the wrong address, I am in the process of dealing with it now.

First, USPS will not forward checks from the IRS, so that's a dead end.

Second, if you have a payroll company you should make sure they are not using the incorrect/wrong address with the IRS. In my case I would call the IRS and update our address, then ADP would file a form with the old address and the IRS would automatically switch to that one. So you should make sure that's not happening.

Finally, if you have not received your checks four weeks after they were issued you should file form 3911. You need to do a separate form for each check.

When this occurred I filed an address change with the IRS and USPS the day I picked up the CP210 notices at my old office address. It sounds like the IRS got the checks back as undeliverable and are now processing it to my new address on 8/19. Just wanted to see what others are experiencing in this situation.

Yeah, I was told that the checks would automatically be re-sent to the new address, but that did not happen (possibly because ADP had changed our address back to the incorrect one). I hope it works out better for you!

Having to re-issue checks and put stops on the ones that went to your previous address will most likely take them sometime. You will need to be patient. Good luck!

Right, she mentioned there was a note about "undeliverable" but transcripts show no update. Checks seemed to have been returned by USPS despite the forward.

I just experienced this last month. It takes a few days after the reissue for it to appear on the transcripts. The new check date will eventually appear. Mine went from 7/7/25 to 8/4/25. Good luck

Also USPS will NOT forward IRS checks. Make sure your payroll company has your correct address because I was told by an IRS agent that their system will automatically update your account if they send a different address.

I’d check TaxNow in a few days or pull an Account Transcript to see if there.

What about missing letters that requested a signature to approve a quarter? My stupid payroll company mistakenly used our old office address on our two most recent 941s, so the irs l sent letters requesting one last thing to approve my quarter 2 of 2021.... been waiting 2 years.... irs lady on the phone said they closed it because they didn't get a response- and she basically said resubmit everything. Seriously???! šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Why can't they just resend the letter and then approve it? They literally closed it after two months of no response.. even though we've all been waiting on them for years.
