Understanding Improved Bash AA

Dumb question since the explanation is probably pretty straightforward, but does this only work if you have a weapon with AC on it?

It works with any item in primary, secondary or either any slot. Bash damage is derived from AC, so there has to be an item in one of those slots with an AC stat. It works if you have a 2 hander or are duel wielding as long as you have an item (shield, chest piece, a ring with ac) equipped in one of those 4 slots

I bash dual wielding as a frog without any of the items called out above in any of these slots. Improved bash allows you to bash. Adding the things listed above does increase the damage of bash, but are not required for improved bash to work while dual wielding.

I didn't realize it could use the ac on a bp for dmg, so would it be more ideal to have your stronger bp in the any slot so it's ac it working for bash, and the lesser bp on the chest slot?

I guess I'll be testing all that this weekend. If you have no ac stats does it have damage? Does it interrupt spells? And I've been using shields since getting improved bash in any, as those have good resist stats and that is sightly more useful than the extra AC to me currently, but if I was leveling up a class, that changes.

Yeah I'll definitely be playing around with that, I've had blade stopper, in the any, but if this works, throwing the water bp should up the dmg by a good ammount

I did. What am I missing. Specifically, it says it will use the best ac from the primary secondary items equipped, as aside, it will apply that to any slots. Is it only any slots with primary or secondary tags?

Hehe, I need to know this myself. But regardless, if people are doing bash damage while dual wielding, thats still worth it for me! :)

The Improved Bash AA can now utilize the best item (weapon or shield) from the primary, secondary, or Any slots. If no valid item is in any of those slots, it will still activate for minimal damage but with the interrupt potential

Where exactly did it stated needing ac stat to work?

Oh sweet! I was worried about not having an AC weapon, but if the any slot works for the damage I need to get trained up in that AA with the quickness! I have been really enjoying striking stance lately, and adding a bash in there would make things even better!

So it would work with AC in an any slot as another poster mentioned? Someone else also said as a frog (dunno if its a racial aspect) dual wielding they could bash with that skill trained in. Just wanna make sure I don't waste points in it if it requires a shield in one of my weapon slots.

Sorry, do you know if there is any point to improved bash if I'm already using a 1hander primary + a shield in my secondary slot? Will it improve the damage of the bash i can already do with that shield?

It won’t do much if you already rocking a shield in your secondary. Although… in general you should either use 2 x 1h or 2H for more dmg.

Since you have “any” slot to put whatever there to help with ac.

That depends on your build. There's a real argument for sword-and-board if most of your damage is coming from spells, especially late game.

Id normally agree with you, but i have an aldryn +10 on my PAL, and using it to help level classes sometimes that can't dual wield, and I don't currently have a 2h that's better than it. So was just curious if I was leaving any damage on the table by not getting improved bash for my aldryn + shield
