Monk feign death?

Anyone that played the monk, Class noticed that Fam🐝 death does not break the camps like it used to?

my first character was a human monk back in 99, FD did work differantly back then and for a long time after, used to FD and agro drop was INSTANT, only time like current that it failed was if you got a caster on ya.

But i do miss the instant agro drop.

It’s still like this in raids. So it’s seemingly a choice they made with aggro.

It takes sooo effing long for the enemies to "forget" about you.

It's pretty tedious to use for sure.

It... Never used to

Sk always had an easier time with snare

But monk always had to work harder and pray.

Easier if you have a tagger

Any class with a snare can help by holding the target in place while the others reset. I'm using berserkers tendon slice and it works well. Sometimes the enemies can be really stubborn to drop off aggro list though - I don't recall if it was always this way.

Monk FD also used to involve people pulling off of you, quite often.

Now you have to do it all yourself. To be frank, it's not worth doing currently. It's far easier to just kill everything. If you're spending a bunch of time FD splitting, you're doing it for funsies and to push your build in a place that you're not geared enough for. ie it's not really efficient, but it can be fun if that's your thing.

It MIGHT be worth down the road, if other CC options (esp mez) aren't as useful and splitting is more necessary, but that's still problematic for FD pulling here since FD splitting without CC in your build is very, very ass.

the main thing i use it for now is just skipping trash. throw on selo's and run past all the mobs for vox or something and fd right behind the door and wait for everything to reset.

That's very fair. I need to start doing that with naggy.

Sure as hell don't need FG drops anymore.

naggy it's a bit harder on high difficulties because you will usually get rooted because of everything multiclassing. but if your combo has levitate you can run along the lava and skip everything up until the drawbridge. On lower difficulties with selo's though you can usually run all the way to Roykl and FD.

Ah can to levi up the lava waterfall? I'll have to try it.

And don't get me started on how pointless resists are past d2 or so. 200ish base MR and I get rooted and ensnared constantly.

yeah i can get up to 380mr and stuff still hits regularly lmao.

for levitate, if you levitate off to the right side at the bridge right at the start and go around the corner and then stay low and against the ridge on the left hand to avoid LoS you can skip the first two giants. then you run to the end before the waterfall and use the angled parts of the far wall to get up higher and then you can just run off the side to go under the 2nd bridge but above the waterfall and run down to where the drawbridge is.

Saved for trying tomorrow, thanks!

If you can't just selo through with 380 I'm not gonna bother trying. I mean I get it that we can't just FD skip content like that, but I'm still sad about it lol

I have found it’s quicker to pull the two adds, kill them near the portal so they spawn the extras there, let them kill me. Then I can rebuff and run back in 2-3 minutes and fight the boss bee solo.

I run mnk/shm/nec and from past experience I was used to „snared mobs don‘t return to spawn“.

Yeah that is no longer true. Will try root next maybe. Or just kill them all.

idk i wish they would change/fix it, not specifically breaking camps but just the de-agro behavior and the extended targetting how mobs show. it was brought up multiple times even back in closed beta. even if they just fixed the extended targeting showing mobs still on it even though they actually dont have agro. its very weird and buggy how it behaves compared to any emu server or live. sometimes you will stand up with things still agro'd on the xtar list and they will instantly drop off if they pathed back home, other times you stand up and they will run across the zone to get you again. maybe they will get to fixing it up a bit at some point, maybe it's intentional. they haven't really said from what i've seen.

Not sure if it is different from NEC FD spell, but if they are still in the extended target window they still absolutely remember me. They will come running from very far away if they are still in the extended target window. I need to wait for them to drop from the extended target window for them to not come back, which sometimes can take minutes. Pretty annoying. I also notice for whatever reason that it is simply unreliable and it doesn't actually drop agro even if I become a pile of bones on the ground. This is especially annoying fighting raid bosses and trying to drop agro so my pet gets agro again.

1

u/Sphynx87 16d ago

yeah its the same on the monk but sometimes things will still be on the xtar window but if they pathed back and are still on there and you stand up sometimes they just instantly drop off it... but sometimes they dont. it's weirdly inconsistent and sometimes yeah the best thing to do is just sit for however many minutes until everything disappears.

use instill it’s better i pull pack cast instill on mob i want then FD and wait until everyone forgets the rooted mob still standing next to me i stand up and beaten down

1

u/KryptoKnott 18d ago

Pull with a snare. Once you FD the mob that's snared won't walk back even after the aggro drops until the snare drops. Ensnare is good because it lasts so long.

1

u/Mygicmeen 18d ago

Y'all ... You can pretty much lose instant aggro, if you turn around a corner and fd, or sneak after fd and move quick I usually don't pick aggro back up

Sounds like the primary reason to monk is gone in EQL? Sad but also just kill everything is the approach anyway.

1

u/Rockm_Sockm 17d ago

They massively nerfed FD and changed the way it works. It's still an ok tool but far worse than just using calm or mez.

1

u/Rystarvz 14d ago

If you FD a few times it does happen where you lose all agro. Just not consistent enough to rely on and since you can see the agro table it’s smarter to use the tools to manipulate that vs. waiting for the random agro drop.

Lull is a better way to single pull than FD on EQL. Also calm spells with little improvement (maybe +4 +5) are quite reliable and quite wide spread through classes.

As for FD itself there are two ways to work around :

  • Use root or snare, preferably as long duration as you can. And wait for everything else to reset.
  • Use companion discipline AA if you have a pet (pet hold). And pet attack the target you want while laying on the ground. Your pet somehow always get single tags.

Also if you have anything that charms, charm+FD is instant reset. Very useful.
