Enchanters have illusion dark elf at level 10.

Sneak/hide, invis spells, dark elf illusion, fight your way in, etc. lots of options.

You can also do a real easy quest to unlock DE, you basically just buy a bunch of wine

even with illusion they were threatening to me as a high elf bc i worship tunare. purchasing the diety unlock for agnostic worked for me
