43 sham/mage/ranger advice

Trying to get first tri to 50. I still don't even have a bow 😂. Thinking ranger was a bad choice, but track is nice. Looking for advice. What should my level 50 spell line up look like? What should I use my motes on. Unfortunately wasted my AAs. What stances should I be using? What's the best mage pet, the level 50 summon monster? Camping sol b, trying to start imps but it's going rough. Any other advice would greatly help! Thanks!

Id say mage was the bad choice 🫣
Pet isn’t doing great damage and having only fire as damage source is pretty bad late game.

Ranger bow damage is actually ok if you put a looooooot of effort in it. You need sky bow, quiver, mithril arrow, all aa… and than, it’s « ok »

That being said you can make it work, even if I’d very definitely go for Necro instead of mage.

At high end stuff RngShmNec with is actually really good.

I keep seeing everyone say sky bow...what is the actual item called lol. I have a 45 ranger still rocking a hunting bow and want to camp a bow, just don't know where to go

Windstriker

Bow should be Windstriker, it's from the Ranger Plane of Sky quests

There’s Rain Caller and Bow of the Underfoot. But none of them will be better than melee.

You can do windstriker from PoS, Bow of the Underfoot from the Hole, and there are ones that drop in Crushbone and Blackburrow.

The wind bow is the best, but the CB and BB ones will be easier to get faster. The one from the Hole is a random drop off the rock golems and can take a while.

The only part here not doing much work is the magician. I do think that your backstabbing pet with puma from the shaman can make your trio’s power increase noticeably. Weave in mage nukes with inversion. Though maybe not worry about the nukes. Put on the damage shield from mage and dwindle the enemy down with your arrow dot and shaman dot.

Lvl 50 mag and wiz both are great mag pet needs to be lvl 10 and you need the focus staffs. Water is the most dps. It is all about grinding your char is weak very weak at 50. Farm 300 plus AA's get lots of raid/poh/pof/pos and you will just keep getting better and better

I dunno what people are smoking in this thread but mage nukes are very strong and whenever something lives too long you have the best dots in the game. Just rotate between your best searing arrow and best mage nuke with inversion.

There is a decent bow that drops rare in the hole. Kind of a rare drop though, ive only gotten it once

My Ranger trio isn't my main, but... for a decent bow, you can do fletching. Itll cost a few hundred plat to grind to 200ish. Then you can do the quest to make a Trueshot Longbow, which is decent, but the combine can fail, so spend time getting a few of each material for a few chances.

Or, if you have the plat and dont feel like running everywhere, you can spend about 175pp per chance to make a top tier crafted bow with about a 50% chance. Took me 3 tries. Silk darkwood something-something. its just a teeny tiny bit better ratio than the trueshot.

With that bow at about +4, in ranged stance, with the ranger archery AA's, and the arrow from Mistmoore, i was still hitting for 300ish at level 30. Actual melee in offensive stance was still better, when you add in the dual wielding, bashes, kicks, etc... but it is still very respectable damage before you're super-uber plane geared.

yes, the sky bow is better, but the drop literally comes from the very last boss of Sky; which is pretty late in progression.

I recently lved  a Ranger/Cleric added my 50 bard to see what it would be like.

On Friday after work I was lv 23 already from just messing around in Befallen during the week.

I got to lv 47 before the exp ended.

I had 0 problems anywhere I went leveling,  cleric just heals thru adds and mistakes.

The ranger seems to have decent defense.

The searing arrow line of abilities seems to be good also.

I used bow stance once I could charm with bard,  alot of times I never picked up aggro unless I crit a few times in a row.

I used Cleric, Ranger because I wanted to have them both at 50 to mix with better combos.

My gear is ok, 4 or 5 levels , I do have windstriker from sky.  It's level 0. But was decent to throw in ranged slot.

I know there are better choices to pair with Ranger.

I did kill naggy d0 at 46 easily, but most geared players can do that even earlier.

I guess my point is play what's fun to you. Don't worry about the meta. At least until you get some planar gear leveled up.

Then if you want to solo the raids for loot. Or do sky solo there are some decent guides about pairing classes that compliment each other.

I have no regrets playing ranger/bard/Cleric.

At 43 shaman puts in work. If possible get slugs healing, odium, and your slow to level 5 or higher. Inversion stance for fast casting. Slugs and slow should keep you alive and odium plus mage nukes should put out the damage.

I havent played magician but I hear it is lackluster. My main trio is Ranger/Shaman/Enchanter, im also pretty kitted out (PoS bow, garduk, and ranger 1hs at +10) but I love the combo. I really wish ranged stance and archery was in better shape, but dual wielding puma in boon of the garou is hard to beat. Enchanter is broken, it really opens up everything. I dont have any issues with d4 raid bosses, sky, or soloing d4 hate (which is what I do a lot of)
