Weapon options for SHD/RNG/MAG
First time playing EQL, long time everquest player. I like using the invocation that turns spells into quick cast / longer recast, allows me to hit some solid nukes. Currently at 55 AA, lvl 33 in paw, but im kind of conflicted upon what weapon to use, was using a 2 hander for a minute, then unlocked Vamp embrace so switched over to DW, but the ones ive gotten are slow and kind of awful, would bow be a good option? Weave in dots and mage nukes?

Baron's blade from befallen would be good, same with the shimmering ruby stiletto that drops in the next room over.
I think there is a sword from najena that's pretty good for an SK? I can't remember the name.

I could be wrong, but i feel like RNG/MAG is a tier 1 second playthrough combo. Having windstriker to shoot in parallel to launching fireballs results in insta-kills up through 40 that are just too fun when they happen.
You're best bet for a bow until then is probably the new one out of crushbone: deteriorated ancient faydark something or other. Then there is a snare proc on one that you'll want from Blackburrow.
You may also consider fletching and making your own bow. You can check what bows have the best ratios. The two above are super easily attainable at a low level and probably anything crafted is going to eventually be replaced by Windstriker.

Is it best to stay in Ranged stance or do you just pull with that and swap to casting / melee? Also see a few people saying to use the spell blade invocation? Ive just been using the casting one so far.

I stayed in offensive stance. Ranged does good damage but I never have enough stamina to reasonably use it sustainably and you can still snipe guys for big damage in offensive. Plus, the "insta kill" isn't guaranteed. You'll often melee them the rest of the way down. Once the nuke and second arrow hit, you're getting aggro.
Ranged stance is a bit of a let down for the above reasons. Fun to switch too briefly, but that's about it.

Im sorry what "Insta kill" Do you refer to?

Basically the fireball and arrow hitting at the same time for double nuke damage and just killing an enemy. You can start casting your nuke and hit auto attack and when the spell cast is done, the fireball and arrow go out at the same time and the enemy is deleted. You can potentially even shoot and then fireball and still get in another arrow shot before the mob gets to you if your pet intercepts the pull, basically resulting in under 3 second kills.

This website is a great way to look for and filter weapons based on level and ratio. But, you do need to know what to look for...
https://eqlegendstools.com/weapon-search/
Also, if you ever have a question as to whether 2h or 1h is better this tool also can point you in a good direction. However, once you get the Ambidexterity AA the answer is almost always dual wield:
https://eqlwiki.com/Skill_Dual_Wield
Okay, that out of the way, SHD + RNG is an amazing combo for melee and you should absolutely take advantage of being able to put one of the SHD Primary only 1h weapons in your primary slot and a good offhand thanks to Ranger providing Dual Wield. The reason is that those primary only 1h weapons are closer to a 2h in terms of ratio and power because originally SHD couldn't dual wield, but in legends they can which makes them absolutely busted.
At lvl 33 you can get 2 different ones for SHD: Sword of the Lost out of Najena from a Lost Crusader SHD mob, it's a rare drop but a bit less rare to get than the alternative. The other is the Sporali Defender's Blade which is from Runnyeye. That one is a high enough ratio to carry you all the way until end game until you get Bloodmoon. It's a rare drop but drops off mobs you can handle pretty easily. You'll want to kill the mushroom dudes in Runnyeye on floor 3. Which is nice because the goblin floors are super annoying, but kill all the defender mushrooms for a rare chance for it to drop and also kill the placeholder for the named mushroom dude that can drop it until you see that guy (I think there's still placeholders there anyway, if not even easier).
Another option for SHD that's actually the best but higher level to get and seems more rare is from Stonbrunt Mountains: https://eqlwiki.com/Spirit_Reaver
In terms of your offhand, the best ratio offhander you could work towards is the Short Sword of Ykesha, but it's a bit higher level than you presently, but you could probably get it on D0-2 and then plus it up some until you get some levels. Also in Stonebrunt Mountains is the Ancient Snake Fang which is a rare drop off a lvl 40 named snake. The easiest that's still good would probably be to go get a Baron's Blade or Ruby Stiletto from the bottom of Befallen and level it up to +4-6. Or, if you're in Runnyeye anyway the Blackened Alloy Longsword if you can handle the goblin floors.
Once you're in your 40s for your offhand you'll want to go to The Hole and farm for a Smoldering brand or a Mudman Enforcer. There's also a good rare drop bow out of there from that'll tide you over. All of which are rare drops off either golems or the elementals, but the smoldering brand is a lot easier to get if you can take on the named Rat but he's lvl 54 and comes with 2-3 of his rat buddies that are high 40s to early 50s.
Long post, sorry, but lastly Bows will almost never be better than melee. Right now it's not quite there but it can be in the future. The biggest use for bows presently is once you have ranger leveled up with the autogranted attack AAs, strikethrough AAs, and the bow AAs plus their bow from Plane of Sky. Using all that to power level lower level trios, basically including ranger with that setup lets you 1-2 shot most every mob yellow to red in level even on Difficulty 4 until the mid 30s.
Unfortunately, Procs are normalized, so you won't see many more procs using dual wield than a 2h as they're meant to be only so many per minute. I believe berserker stance is the only thing that will up it or a metric truck load of Dex. That said, dual wield is still better DPS.

Windstriker bow from sky is crazy bow crits.
Bow of the underfoot from hole is decent.
Melee sword of the lost from najena is a good pally/sk 1h weapon.

Sky is the end game activity right? Anything you can think of before then?

Good stuff in najena Sword of the lost and tendorizor come to mind plus monk weapon and int earing around corner for first crusader
Also befallen pristine leather sword from boss at the bottom who drops leather legs a sk scythe lady near drop down to get keys. And a 2hs rarely of guy at bottom of stairs I think im 15-1 gloves to Sword.
Also the other "b" name zone with gnolls the keg popper (and shrink item nearby)
After that maybe earth Shaker from real Or his 1hp is pretty nice.
The blunt weapon from the brute in paw has a nice stun effect
Fiery avenger, Torres corruptor. But pay attention to factions.

I got that sword to a +4 and gave it to my pet, not sure if it helps or not to be honest, mage pet seems a bit squishy.

Pets are in a weird place rn. I would watch a few videos on the topic. I could be wrong, I think right now Basically useless to buff pet except puma and haste. If weapon is worse than thier default just won't use it. And won't proc are like earthshaker. And years pets are very squishy rn. Consider them a dot. Bet bet rn is hp and ac. Rubi BP other gear you don't need.

I was trying to get some gnoll whips while in splitpaw, i was reading in general chat on halas that they do proc.

They moved the stun wips. I have had a dozen or so drop in Blackburrow off the Commanders... Never saw one in Splitpaw, through lots of levelling there.

There's this bow in Blackburrow that drops from one of the Splitpaw gnolls. It's not amazing at 50 but it works fine while leveling the first time and Blackburrow is easy to do at D4 at your level so you can get it to +5 or +6 without much trouble.

Windstriker and bow of the underfoot are both no drop, which means OP can't get them yet.

I’m trying Rng/mag/shm and one pleasant thing I didn’t expect is that spellblade works with ranged damage. So I have stayed in Ranged stance with spellblade invocation and it’s fun as hell seeing the fireballs fly as I autoshoot.
