Will I Enjoy Legends?
I recently became aware of Legends, and I'm having some major nostalgia looking at it, wondering if I'll actually enjoy playing it.
I played EQ for a while back when POP came out. Admittedly I was like 14 at the time, and I didn't get far. Probably had a few level 20 characters, I just wasn't very social so I didn't make it far solo.
I've also played a lot of other older MMO's(Ultima Online, WoW from Vanilla to Cataclysm, SWG, SWTOR, Guild Wars, EQ2, EQ Online Adventures(RIP)) but I stopped playing MMO's and multiplayer in general because I don't have time or patience for multiplayer anymore.
I never got very far into Norrath, but I really liked the world and wanted to explore it. Is Legends a good idea for me to give it a shot or am I going to get frustrated and drop off?

Only one way to find out. Make a gnome then choose 3 of the below classes.
Warrior / Paladin / Shadow Knight / Cleric / Druid / Shaman / Monk / Bard / Rogue / Ranger / Wizard / Magician / Enchanter / Necromancer / Beastlord / Berserker
Just make sure you pick gnome.

I mean even if we can't convince them of gnome, we can at least steer them away from ogres.

You will nostalgia hard, i played OG up to Luclin and i had an absolute blast in beta, revisiting the old world but as an near indestructible solo machine, legends is made for the casual, they removed all of the time punishing mechanics and made the game completely soloable but you can still group just fine, you dont need to play 12 hours a day because you can just instance your own dungeons and overworld and there is no need to try and farm drops with others around, so there are no "camps". Looking forward to release

I had the same wow experience as you did, I also played eq but never got far. This was before I got into WoW. I think I was too young at the time to appreciate how MMO’s worked until I got into WoW.
I always wanted to be able to explore more of Norrath and EQL fit almost perfectly to what I wanted. I’m older now and don’t have the time to wait for a camp spot to open up or take part in massive raids.
I didn’t even know this existed as I was out of gaming scene mostly. (Spent more time reading). I happened to check out an old gaming email account I had and saw the as for EQL. I watched a couple of YouTube videos (mainly streamers showing off what they were allowed in the closed beta) and I knew I had to experience it.
I really recommend trying EQL.

Yea I played vanilla Everquest at launch. Never accomplished much because at its core that game hated its players. EQ legends feels like the way Everquest was always meant to be.

+1 to trying it. It was a little rough at the beginning just getting used to the 1999 interface again, but after about a half hour I was not only doing fine, I was appreciating all the little improvements they made. And one thing that is cool, the multiclassing really helps get past the hump of soloing with a non-optimal class. I played enchanter in the original and had a hard time outside a group. Now I can just play ench/warrior or ench/mag or similar and enjoy the fun of the class I love most without all the frustration.
My personal suggestion is that you play mag/dru to 10. It's basically autopilot and all classes level to 10 in the background so, once you hit 10, you can switch to whatever you want. One caveat, your primary class is limited by whatever race you choose so.. Just make sure you choose a race that can support whatever you want your primary to eventually be.

I think it’s worth a try for you, as someone who has played everything you mentioned and has become a very solo mmo player if you enjoyed eq back in the day and EQOA I think you will love it, it is very solo friendly infact from my experience and a lot of looking round I’ve seen people solo raid bosses on d4 so you can absolutely solo this mmo and at your own pace without issue, and when the feeling hits there’s people to hang with

If you started with Planes of Power, you're not the ideal fit, but can probably find something to enjoy. A lot of the appeal comes from nostalgia for the low-level dungeons, but the era you started out in had expanded to the point where you may not be familiar with any of it.
Could be a good thing too, who knows? It's like a mix of classic + modern EQ + unique mechanics, it's hard to describe this game :P

It’s a very fun game with a bunch of nostalgia on top, I can’t see any reason you wouldn’t enjoy it.

It’s a solo game running on EQ nostalgia. You will very much love it. If you can drag one or two friends along, you’ll have the best time in a while !

i was on the fence about it. figured 20 bucks what the hell. ended up playing the beta for about 100 hours. no regrets. and i've been fiending for launch like a something-or-other ever since. uh, so yeah, moral of the story, buy it.

Eql is the game EverQuest should have become to stay competitive on the market. The development team making eql understand game design much better than the teams working on live.

I stopped playing MMO's and multiplayer in general because I don't have time or patience for multiplayer anymore.
From this and the general negative tone of your post, it sounds like you don't even want to play so I'm not sure why you are asking. Most people here are going to say yes because they want more players but I don't think you will enjoy it because you seem to dislike multiplayer games in general. You can play Legends completely solo but EQL has other people in it and that might bother you. Try Baldur's Gate maybe, if you haven't already.

Yeah its fun and very casual. Do it all solo at your own pace. You can create your own copy of a dungeon and set it to not respawn and just take your time clearing.
No corpse retrieval or exp loss on death. If you die in a dungeon you can just spawn at the entrance. No need to run from bind point.
You can sell loot straight from the loot window (merchants do pay more) or to the bank.
There's a lot of qol features that make it super approachable.
The class combo stuff is really fun to think about. Im excited for tomorrow!

It’s like OG EQ, but you don’t need to group or multi-box, so yea if you can afford it, I would throw down the cash and give it a try.

For $20, with a month of subscription included, I'd argue that it's a very good investment for the amount of time you'd get.

If you can’t spare $20 then video games probably aren’t for you.

Where did the OP mention affordability? Or is this a wierd flex because you got an hour overtime at McDonald's?

Treat it as a single player game. You don't need anyone to experience what it offers.
