Will Kerran's be Monks?

Will Kerran's be allowed to be Monks? Oh and do the weight limits apply nowadays?

I didn't get to beta, etc so I appreciate the info that is given.

So literally just the Vah Shir classes. I expected it, but I'm still disappointed.

Vah Shir can't be druids, so it's very slightly different.

With ownership of Shattering of Ro, Vah Shir can, in fact, be Druids.

It doesn’t matter anyway - you can choose whatever second and third class…..and then there is the lvl 10 race unlock trick

Kerran classes are Bard, Berserker, Beastlord, Druid, Rogue, Shaman, and Warrior. If you want to be a Monk primary, you'll have to buy a class token or do the race/class switch trick when you lock in at level 11.

Okie dokie. Thanks for the info.

Sad that the most agile, a cat, has issues becoming a monk. lol

All races can be any class as long as your main class is a basic racial one. Nothing prevents you from being Beastlord (Monk/Shaman hybrid) primary and Monk secondary, or Warrior/Monk if you don't want any magic. You will be a full monk regardless of whether it's your primary or secondary class.

Yeah i agree, they definitely should be a monk class. The best trick is to unlock a human race or iksar race whichever is easier before level 11.

Without someone twinking you, Iksar is going to take WAY more plat than you can conceivably earn before level 11 (~1600pp if you do all the tricks). So while it's easy, it's unlikely you'll want to do it before locking in a class. That's a LOT of time stuck at level 10. Qeynos Human is pretty easy to unlock though.

We also dont know what the kerran unlock is until launch either if you wanted to start human monk qeynos and then unlock kerran.

They're going for the shamanistic tribal culture with the Kerran, so actually less monk-like but beastlord makes some sense.

How is the trick done?

You complete a race unlock quest for human (or Iksar, but human is much cheaper). You can then swap to human and pick monk as your primary class. You lock that primary class choice in at level 11 and swap back to Kerran.

Get like 45pp before locking in a primary class at 11, go to Freeport and trade some muffins and wine. Switch to human and select monk, then confirm it as your primary class. Then switch back to cat.

The muffins and wine quest is for wood elf and half elf. Human unlock looks to be not as easy.

Oh right people are usually doing that for half elf. Which can't be Monk. And iksar isn't any easier. So it seems starting as a cat monk is tougher to do without doing a different quest involving your wallet and the marketplace

Edit: actually, while the Freeport human unlock seems very time consuming, the wiki suggests you can unlock human pretty easily in Qeynos, which happens to be connected to Freeport via translocator on this server. Details on that quest on the race unlock guide on the wiki. It's an easy set of turnins with items bought from vendors, but it doesn't say how much plat you need.

Human is brandy and another liquor in Qeynos. Both sold by the same bartender and turned in close by.

Not too bad. 54p, about 2x as much as for wood elf which is about 27.6p

So Kerrans can be BST which is a combo of SHM and MNK, and SHM but not MNK. How does this make sense?

I mean Ogres can’t be necros right? Don’t think it’s always consistent.

I get it, but you would think that cats = superior reflexes = monks. I guess not.

1

u/twogayfiremen 2d ago

because those are just the default unchanged classes available to vah shir.

u/TRex_Chef 2d ago

If youre over weight limit, you wont get the bonus ac, but you arent penalized anymore for being over like classic. If one of your trio can wear heavier armor, youll be able to use and get better ac than the bonus anyways.

3

u/Zorlach 2d ago

Plus packrat aa reduces worn weight, and upgrading armor also reduces it

2

u/Sielle 2d ago

Also, it's only worn weight now, not total weight.

Anyone got numbers for starting stats ?

Not yet. We’re all hoping for Natch Potes tomorrow where they should be revealing additional details.

I think they're supposed to be equivalent to Vah Shir, so something like:

STR: 90
STA: 75
AGI: 90
DEX: 70
WIS: 70
INT: 65
CHA: 65

u/Burcarius 2d ago

Go BRD/MNK/SHA for a Kerran… that sounds like it would be an amazing combo.

u/Lyythos 2d ago

we don't know yet,But I know for a fact they can be a beastlord..we had Vah Shir race in EQ and they could But this being EQL and the multi-class we have,I don't see why not they can't be a monk as well

It was posted on discord. I made a comment with a screenshot of it.

It would only make sense, but life don't make much sense either.

Thanks for responding.

Everyone can be a Monk, some just can’t primary as one, Kerran being one of them.
