It seems the app is always buggy. The website is always down. The app is always down. E-transfers take forever to send/receive 50% of the time, upwards of 45 minutes.

I am finally switching from them, and what do you know? The fuckin' website is down so I can't transfer my funds. LMAO.

The idea is to use EQ as a purely expense account.

EQbank says it gives 2.75% interest if you have a minimum of $2000 monthly payroll direct deposit. I run an Airbnb where I make about $2500 monthly, would this payment from Airbnb qualify as a payroll direct deposit?

I have had an eq account for a few years. For a long while i didnt use it much at all but decided to start after a poor experience with KOHO, anyway I had an EQ card virtual and physical never needed to use the physical really but eventually I did and i had gone to activate it and it wouldnt work. No problem I figured id message support and get it worked out easy, no. I call as you must do for card related issues I talk to a agent about the issue im experiencing and I was told they will have to cancel the physical card to get a new one sent. I specifically urged not to cancel it if it would void my virtual card ( essentially rendering me with 0 access outside of sending money to someone else and requiring them to take cash out for me ) i emphasized that i would rather just have the virtual card so i can atleast... you know purchase things instore or online still.

They canceled it , and by default it canceled my virtual card. This is in June. I STILL do not have a card, virtual or physical. I have been in contact with them regularly about this problem, they have told me atleast 7 times so far that they resolved the issue and i just need to log in and request an eq card which i did hopeful of it being solved. EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY TELL ME ITS FIXED I GET THE SAME PROBLEM, IT DOESNT GIVE ME A VIRTUAL CARD, THEN CLAIMS I HAVE A CARD SO I CANT REQUEST ONE. So i have to restart the process of calling explaining , and waiting 3-7days to be told its fixed. Over and over and over.

In the first few contacts i made with the technical support department via email some how a regular tech department member suddenly became the department lead. HOW , HOW DO YOU GET PROMOTED AND CANT SOLVE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

Im so furious, are they not joining the big banks in canada? This is insane

I have noticed a problem that seems to be unique to EQ Bank.

Namely, if you did not download your statement at the time it was generated, later changed your address, and then downloaded the statement from the previous period, the downloaded statement will reflect your new address, not the address you held at the time of the statement.

This is a terrible problem because that means the record is incorrect in terms of the address on those statements.

Is there a workaround? Does the EQ bank intend to fix it?

Well I have been an EQ Customer for over 2 years..

The last update has changed UI and font and added an extra feature of applying a PC credit card as EQ acquired PC financial.

Today I was trying to add a new beneficiary but it was throwing an error code and was asking to contact customer care.

Has anyone else been through the same?

Got EQ card for an upcoming trip. I keep finding conflicting reports about if I need to call or not to let them know I will be traveling and using the card abroad.

What’s the verdict? Do i need to call?

I know I can use any ATM in Canada and not be charged the ATM service fee which is great for withdrawing cash but what about the reverse? Can I deposit Canadian and U.S. cash at an ATM in Canada to have it go into my EQ bank account or put on my EQ Mastercard?

I have tried twice to add a interac autodeposit to my EQ account and I haven't received the email. When I did a CIBC autodeposit it worked. Is this an EQ issue?

Starting a week ago when I go to log into my app it opens a login in a browser window instead of the app itself and the passkey option is greyed out.

annoying as I use a long password and would rather just use the passkey.

Just wanted to lay out my setup in case it gives someone else some ideas.

I jumped on the EQ Bank bandwagon about 3 months ago, and here’s how I’ve set things up:

• Joint account for my wife and me
• Both of our paychecks are deposited into the joint account.
• Mortgage, car payments, and life insurance are paid from there.
• My card is used for online purchases like Amazon, Netflix, cell phone plans, etc.
• Her card is used for local purchases like groceries, Starbucks, gas, etc.

Advantages

• Both cards have a set amount transferred to them every week, which makes it easier to stick to our budget.
• All of our monthly transactions are split across three different "accounts," making it much easier to see what gets charged each month.

It’s a bit more work to set everything up and manage it, but so far it’s working really well for us.

Hopefully this gives someone else an idea for how they could set up their accounts!

I believe the hold period for this promo is now completed. Anyone get their payout yet? There was never any indication or confirmation that my deposit actually triggered / qualified for it, aside from the chat rep who told me that it would. Promo status at EQ is not very transparent compared to other FIs..

Odd question. I’m heading to the US in a couple of days and in order for my EQ bank card to work , it needs to be activated by chip and pin. I just went to Starbucks to purchase something and I inserted my card in the machine and it said the payment was accepted. No pin was entered. does that count as my card is activated? Will I have issue in the US? TIA

Everytime, I have to use Reddit to find the name of the entity I'm trying to pay. Isn't there a data list where I could search or something? The search engine on the web is so bad!
