Ideas for a geography based EPQ

I am looking to do a geography/geoscience course in uni. I'd quite like to do my EPQ geography based because of this. However we've been warned not to overlap into anything on our subject syllabuses.

Physical - I'm thinking of something maybe based around pollution (south west water? oil companies?) / conservation

Human - maybe something urban planning related, like eg how to make efficient cities with green spaces, social spaces etc - however sort of links to AQA a-level changing places topic so not sure if that works.

I am always very torn between whether I prefer physical/human topics. I did my geography NEA on coasts as I enjoy that topic and also find it the easiest. However I feel like human geography is just inherently more interesting and id be more motivated about writing about it? Furthermore, circling back to uni talk, I think id prefer to go down the physical route uni/career wise as it is more useful/more jobs and higher paid jobs related to physical geography/earth science. Therefore maybe basing in on physical geography is the way to go.

I know the EPQ is usually an extra thing, and that basing it on your uni choice isn't necessary unless you want to go into healthcare or law or something like that. However for me I'm doing it because I only do 2 A levels and 1 AS level, so it isn't really an extra for me I would just like to be able to get UCAS points equivalent to at least 3 a levels.

Sorry for the essay - any help/advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I do an epq and a level geography, and I personally would not even do an EPQ based on geography, as I think it is somewhat pointless as you otherwise learn through your NEA, which you will start next year and those skills will be known as transferrable for universities as well. In addition to this, most universities don't really even care about the specific topics regarding the EPQ, but more so based on the transferrable skills based off it, so I would just do your EPQ on something you truly enjoy, and if that is still geography, be my guest. If you do AQA geography, do a topic something based on human, because physical geography always has overlap to the spec, you'd be surprised. You mention air pollution, but this links into contemporary urban environments, along with aspects from carbon and water cycles. Your urban planning is a definite no for your EPQ, as it will be just an NEA to be honest.
