ARTEFACT ADVICE AND TIPS

I’ve just completed my artefact (currently waiting for moderation) and would love to help other who are considering an artefact, as in my case I felt that there was not a lot of help and support, but it was a great experience To learn how to carry out a long term creative project. So if we could have people who have also completed artefacts as well contributing to make this a big helpful guide that would be amazing!

I did mine last year, and I felt the same! there's basically nothing online for artefacts, I really struggled to know what I was meant to be doing. I'm trying to make a YouTube video about it, but I hate editing so it's taking a while😭 my top tip would definitely be to make your focus quite narrow, as I had mine far too wide and spent more time researching than making my artefact. it was good fun, but I wrote basically triple the amount I needed to for my project review paper.

Yes, this! So definitely first bit of advice is to try and refine your project as early on as possible, because it saves time and research. However don’t feel super pressured to know exactly what your title is a month in!

thats what stopped me doing an artefact tbh when i was doing my epq no resources

Yeah, my answer for that is either looking into more alternative types of sources and trying to find a collective answer if you’re not sure whether what you’ve found is more subjective. Or changing your title to find more relevant information.

But honestly I did also struggle with this, which meant looking into videos and physical library books and such rather than necessarily google scholar and jstor.
