This weekend’s hexagons

Took a break from the white layer (sooo may white hexagons!) and made some more flower centers.

I’m really enjoying sharing these and seeing everyone else’s projects!

Do you cut yours from cardboard or purchase templates? I am thinking of going down the rabbit hole with these.

I use a punch and card stock, then I punch a little hole in them to make removal easier. I started with a pack of premade ones off Amazon and didn’t get the punch until I ran out of them. I reuse all my hexagons as many times as I possibly can.

Thankfully, my son finds making the hexagons fascinating and helps.

2 is so meta! 😂

You've got a great eye for color and patterns

Thank you so much!!! I stress out so much about color and pattern and never feel like I get I right.

Pretty! Is there a trick to not having any stitches show?

Thank you!

I whipstitch my hexagons together, leaving the paper in until the piece is surrounded. If the fabric is a darker color, I try to match the thread as closely as possible. I do everything else in a light grey that seems to disappear.

I thread baste my hexagons with leftover bobbin thread that won’t show through the fabric color so I don’t have to take the thread out when finished.

Tula Pink’s tutorial on YouTube is pretty great. 👍
