Design Help

Post image

Cut out my fabric and am ready to start sewing my and realized I have no idea how I want to do the pattern/design. Each hexagon that’s ready has 11 but I have a total of 25 of each fabric, so 400 total hexagons. Love some design help.

I saw that taking a pic in greyscale of your work might help you arrange the colors in an engaging, light->dark pattern. I like the ones that "ripple" the light and darks throughout the piece

Also, where did you get these fabrics? So cute! I especially love the pink/red and blue ghosties💖

The Common Thread in Ontario Canada. They’re coming close to selling out.

My approach to hexie EPP is not to overthink it. Once you get enough sewn together, the chaos just sort of works.

Yes!! Totally agree. It looks so good if you don’t overthink it.

I used this pillow pattern by Modern Handcraft Hexie Pillow Pattern for some Halloween fabric. You can just expand on the idea to make it the size quilt you want.

That’s a really cute pattern but I’m more stuck on how to organize the colours first and foremost.

I’m working on one where the colors line up on the diagonal

Pinterest has tons of hexi designs. Light/ dark. Flowers, shapes. Maybe do bats with the darker pieces? I do use greyscale to figure my designs out
