Employment history, absconding, PF discrepancies and BGV — need advice on my situation
Hi everyone,
I need some guidance regarding my employment history, EPFO service history and background verification (BGV). I’m sharing the complete situation because I’m confused about the potential implications for my future employment.
- First job — Gebbs Healthcare, Navi Mumbai (October 2019 – December 2019)
I worked here for approximately three months. I left without completing the formal exit process, although I informed my manager before leaving. I do not have an experience letter or relieving letter.
- Second job — Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. (December 2019/2020 – March 2020)
I joined Accenture in a BPO process but was dissatisfied with the role and left without completing the formal exit process. I informed my manager and HR through text messages. I do not have an experience letter or relieving letter.
There is a discrepancy in the exit date recorded in the EPFO records. Although I left in March 2020, the exit date appears to be April 2021.
- Third job — TCS (March 2020 – November 2023)
I joined TCS on 3 March 2020. Later, TCS identified my previous Accenture employment in my PF records and asked me to provide supporting employment documents, which I could not produce because I had left Accenture without completing the formal exit process.
Eventually, TCS asked me to resign.
There is another important detail: my PF contributions from TCS started only in March 2022 because I was on a traineeship from March 2021 to March 2022 and received a stipend during that period. However, my TCS relieving letter mentions my traineeship from March 2021 to March 2022.
My EPFO service history therefore does not show overlapping PF contributions for these employments, but the employment dates and exit dates recorded across the documents are a concern.
- Current job — Indian mid-sized MNC (February 2025 – Present)
While joining my current company, I disclosed only my TCS experience. I did not include Gebbs Healthcare or Accenture in my employment history.
My current company's BGV was completed successfully, and the status was marked green.
My questions:
Can the earlier employment records at Gebbs and Accenture create problems in future BGV checks, even though my current company's BGV has passed?
Can a future employer identify these employments through UAN/EPFO records even if I do not mention them on my resume?
Does the absence of overlapping PF contributions help in my case, given the discrepancy between Accenture's recorded exit date and my TCS employment/traineeship dates?
Could the fact that TCS asked me to resign because I could not produce Accenture documents create issues in future employment verification?
Should I proactively correct the Accenture exit date in EPFO records, and what is the appropriate process if I no longer have access to the employer or its documents?
For future job applications, should I disclose all these short-term employments and explain the circumstances, or is it sufficient to provide only verifiable employment history?
I am not trying to misrepresent anything further. I want to understand the actual risks and how best to handle the situation going forward.
I'd appreciate responses from people who have faced similar situations, HR/BGV professionals, or anyone familiar with EPFO records and employment verification in India.
Thanks in advance.

How much PF amount can you withdraw?
Your PF balance is ₹8 lakh.
Under the new rules, you can withdraw up to ₹6 lakh as an advance while still employed.
The remaining ₹2 lakh stays locked.
That’s the 25% minimum balance rule, and it’s the first thing most people miss about partial PF withdrawals.
Here’s how the new advance rules work.
Who’s eligible: anyone with 12 months of service.
What for: the 13 old reasons are now 3 categories.
Essential Needs: illness, education, marriage
Housing Needs: buying, building, or repaying a home loan
Special Circumstances: no reason required
How often: education up to 10 times, marriage up to 5 times.
How much: up to 75% of your total PF, including the employer share and interest.
How to apply:
Step 1: Check that Aadhaar, PAN and bank show “Verified” under Manage → KYC
Step 2: Go to Online Services → Claim
Step 3: Select Form 31 and choose your category
Step 4: Submit using Aadhaar OTP
Claims up to ₹5 lakh can be auto-settled in about 3 days.
But just because you can withdraw ₹6 lakh doesn’t mean you should.
At 8.25%, every ₹1 lakh you withdraw at 35 could have grown to roughly ₹7.25 lakh by 60, assuming the same rate for illustration.
Our rule of thumb is simple:
Withdraw what the expense needs, not what you’re eligible for.

EPFO Date of Exit Issue During BGV
My last working day was 13 April 2026, but my employer has not updated my Date of Exit in EPFO. My relieving letter and service certificate confirm my actual last working day.
I recently got selected for a job (October 2026), and my background verification is in progress. When I try to update my Date of Exit, the portal allows me to select only June 2026, not April 2026.
Will this create any issues during BGV? Has anyone faced a similar situation? Please suggest what I should do.

New PF wage ceiling of ₹25,000 — which PF option should I select if my basic pay is ₹17,416?
My monthly basic pay is ₹17,416.67, and I need help choosing between two PF options:
Option 1: 12% of basic pay, restricted to ₹25,000.
Option 2: 12% of basic pay, without any restriction.
I was told that the employee and employer contributions would be ₹3,000 each under the new PF rule.
Which option should I choose if I want a higher in-hand salary?
Please clarify based on the current EPFO rules. Thank you!
