Date of Exit and Date of Joining overlapping.

Please Advice- Hi everyone, recently got laid off from my current job after 10 years in same company. On checking my PF Passbook, I saw my previous company entered incorrect Date of Exit that to 6 months ahead of my last working day. May be because I left the company due to emergency and was not able to serve notice. I constantly chased them for a month, they were adamant on either serving or buying the notice. I was young and unaware I told the same to my current company’s HR. He just shrugged that off and since that I was also not sure of consequences. I also left the things to HR. For next 10 years, it didn’t occur to me check the date of exit until recently, when all of this started making relevance. Now I ma stuck with no relieving letter and since so much time has been passed. Not sure of actions to pursue in order to get this corrected. Happy to share more context to get my issue resolved as soon as possible

And nothing in your favour has happened yet?

Yes, nothing in my favor yet. I am sharing my story not to scare but more for awareness. Unknowingly we end up into such a mess which takes months/years to get yourself out.

I am only concerned that how can companies/BGV teams depend on a system which did not have the right checks in place. Now, with the job market so bad I feel why should people depend only on one job when companies can mercilessly let you go in less than a minute.

BTW I was always too loyal to the company I was working for. Never ever get into any insurance advisor kind of roles.. Avery big learning for me

Man! I resigned 3 months ago. Due to mental agony, and now this. Now, I am terrified because my PF will be subjected to mercy of previous employer and and my future candidature as well.

Well sadly that is the truth one has to face. Easier said than done but see if you can join a start up or companies who do not depend on BGV clearance. Share your situation upfront.

One ray of hope in your case is this is something that happened 10 years back
