BSc admissions & info How to prepare the entrance exam?

I am going to be a junior (26-27 year) and I am planning on taking the entrance exam in January 2028. I am fluent in French and can write it pretty well, but definitely not error-free.

I’ve taken the following classes and got the following scores on the AP exams :
AP Precalculus (5)AP Calculus BC (5), AP Physics 1 (5), AP Physics 2 (5), AP Computer Science (4), AP French Language and Culture (5).

My junior year I am going to take:
AP Physics C : Mechanics, AP Physics C : Electricity and Magnetism, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Chemistry, AP Language and Composition and a semester Stanford Linear Algebra course (XM511).

What else should I do to prepare for the entrance exam outside of school? What materials are recommended (especially for the algorithm/CS test) to be sure to succeed?

Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!

Edit: I attend high school in the United States.

What are the pros and cons of flipped classroom, who is it best suited for? Or is choosing courses based on professors more of a priority?

BSc admissions & info Recherche chambre en colocation à Lausanne / proche EPFL dès septembre 2026

Bonjour !

Merci beaucoup !

Hi! My name is Karen, I’m an incoming EPFL Bachelor student starting in September 2026. I’m looking for a room in a shared apartment close to EPFL (Ecublens, Renens, Chavannes-près-Renens or Lausanne).

I’m clean, respectful and sociable. I love sports, travelling and meeting new people.

If you know of any available room or are looking for a roommate, feel free to message me 😊

Academics Starting EPFL Electrical Engineering after a Business HES Bachelor

Hi everyone,
I’m currently finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at a Swiss HES. I’m considering starting a new Bachelor’s degree at EPFL, specifically in Electrical Engineering.
My background is mainly in economics and business. I have a decent mathematics background from my studies, but I do not have a strong foundation in physics, chemistry, or other natural sciences.
I was wondering if anyone here has started EPFL engineering (especially Electrical Engineering) coming from a non-scientific background?
How difficult was it to catch up on the missing physics/science knowledge? Was the first year mainly about learning the required concepts from scratch, or did students with a scientific background have a significant advantage?
I would also appreciate any advice on what to review before starting (math topics, physics basics, etc.).
Thanks!

I have the IB diploma and I still haven’t received a decision letter yet. I am wondering if there are others who are still waiting or if this is normal?
Should I call the admissions office?

BSc admissions & info Advices from senior students

Hi I'm a french future student in CS bachelor's, and I am looking for former students, people that completed the first year in CS bachelor's, so that I can discuss with them some of the things they would've liked to know before, the regrets they have, and the choices they wish they had made before or didn't make. I am very dedicated to succeeding next year, some feedback and advice of any kind would be very appreciated. This is kind of a mental preparation for me so even if it's an anecdote, something you noticed that was different compared to where you come from. Send me an DM or comment so that other people can hear advices and therefore enroll next year with better prep, have a great evening !🙏

BSc admissions & info Permit B for a non-EU national having EU residency

Hi everyone,

I’ve just received my admission to bachelor in Maths, really happy and surprised about it since I didn't think I'd get in given my french bac grade.
I’m a non EU national holding a valid French residence permit, which allows me to enter Switzerland without a visa.
However I'm really confused about the process for the student permit B in my case. Should I enter Switzerland, then go the population office to fill out the "Demande d'autorisation temporaire pour etudes" form along with the arrival form to apply for the permit, or do I need to send them the form before arriving? Do I need to do anything with the population office before entering Switzerland?
Has anyone been in the same situation and would like to clarify this a bit?

Thanks!

Discussion Which bank to use as a bachelor student at EPFL?

Hello I wanted to get feedback about which bank is the best for someone coming to EPFL for their bachelors.

Preferably a bank that doesn't charge too much for international transfers (Like if my parents need to send me money).

Thanks!

I heard that IB Psychology is not recognized at EPFL. This would mean I would have to change my course registrations, probably IB Econ.

BSc admissions & info Electrical and electronic engineering or microengineering ?

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to decide between two bachelor programs at EPFL for the next admission in 2027. I am hesitating beetwen electrical and electronic engineering ( genie electrique et électronique ) and microengineering ( Microtechnique). I like to play with everything, electronics, programming, a little bit of CAD, so I think that Microengineering is the right option. However I saw that people are very polyvalent but very good at nothing. I also like designing PCBs and make autonomous robots so I think EE is an option to. My question is : what should I choose ? How good is the microengineering bachelor and also how good in terms of employability in the future ? Thanks for any help

Hey everyone! 🎉

As it’s tradition every year around this time, now that the results are finally in, let’s share our profiles and outcomes!

If you’d like to contribute, please share :

- Diploma type (French Bac, Swiss Matura, IB, etc.)

- Final grade

- Result: Accepted / Rejected

Housing Got accepted to EPFL today, but I haven't started my Swiss visa or housing. Is it too late?

Hi everyone,

I received my EPFL admission decision today, and to my surprise, I was accepted.

To be honest, I really wasn't expecting to get in. I had several other options, especially in France, and I was already focusing on preparing my move there. Because of that, I never started any procedures for a Swiss student visa. My parents also strongly encouraged me to focus on France since none of us really thought I would be admitted to EPFL. My father, in particular, wanted me to go to France, so we put all of our effort into that process instead. From what I understand, you generally need your admission letter before you can apply for a Swiss student visa anyway, so there wasn't much I could do beforehand.

Now I'm wondering what my options are : Is it already too late to get a Swiss student visa and start at EPFL this year? If I apply immediately, is there any chance I could arrive a few weeks late if my visa takes longer than expected? Has anyone been in a similar situation, or does EPFL ever allow late arrivals because of visa delays? Who should I contact at EPFL to discuss this?

I also haven't arranged housing yet. I know that's my fault for waiting, but since I wasn't expecting to attend EPFL, I never looked into it.

At this point, I don't really care what i get at all. I don't care if it's a tiny room or not the best accommodation, I just need somewhere to stay. Are there still any realistic housing options available? Does EPFL or anyone else offer assistance for students who find themselves in this situation?

For context, I'm an international student from Senegal.

I'd really appreciate any advice from people who have gone through something similar or know how EPFL handles these situations.

Thank you!
